They are definitely worth tracking down and playing through.

Does SEGA even realize wtf it's doing nowadays? A lot of people still don't even know the game is coming out, way to go for releasing it the same day as a huge ass game like FFXIII. Doesn't help that they don't even try to market it in any visible way aside from a Demo only a few will probably bother with.Originally Posted by Dead to Rights
I wonder what BRP will play first. This or FFXIII. FFXIII so he can bitch about how much it sucks like FFXII, or this so he can say how great it is and everything else sucks, but Sega sucks for cutting content.
I wonder...
I don't need to play the dating sim portions, I've already got Tali.
GET ON MY LEVEL
So is the Hostess Club bit confirmed cut? It's suspicious if it hasn't been, considering you could visit them (and RUN one) in the localized Yakuza 2.
Also don't cry if it is cut; it's easily the most boring/least rewarding part of the Yakuza games. Yay spending a shitton of money and going through stupid dialogue options for hours on end to get Kiryu laid once.

it's official i guess, although the hostess club on yakuza2 was kinda crappy i hate the idea of cutting stuff from the JP version.
Being a host in Yakuza 2 was fucking hilarious. Running the club was tedious: max money, upgrade everything, repeat, lose club.
It's just frustrating to see SEGA take an obvious shortcut in the localization. It's not cultural differences or a future DLC trap (honestly who would pay for the hostess content); they either didn't feel like paying the voice actors for the hostesses again (or couldn't for legal reasons) or they ran out of time during localization and just trimmed it to avoid pushing back the ship date, which arguably would have helped sales since folks would have had GoW3/FF13 out of their systems by then.
lol I love playing this in english.
I only just now realized you can spit your cigarette at people for a heat attack. Fucking incredible.
Buy this game
This is why I love you BRP. You're one of the few people who has as much love for this series as I do. And I will be picking this up and pushing Final Fantasy back for a bit as a result.
Or you could just play this and not play final fantasy 13 at all. Then play God of War 3. You March won't get any better.
Cosigned.
BRP or someone with equal knowledge of Yakuza series. Know of a website that has a history of the first two games? Or just feel to give me a some bullet points of the first two games. I beat them quite some time ago, and cannot fathom at replaying their shittiness. I liked the story, hated some other stuff. I really wanted to give the 3rd one a go since it's on PS3, but just can't bring myself to do the other 2 games by next week.
Woops! Didn't see that! Long day at work![]()

Video review, decent. Normally don't care for it, but found it and it was enough to get more hyped to the fact I am going to be picking this up in a few hours. Might be a decision maker to some who are too lazy to wikipedia it up.
Also mods please change title. "Coming to America" is no longer necessary.
People are bitching about the cuts like crazy. Now they're saying even more shit was cut out like sidequests and whatnot on top of Majong and other stuff. I don't mind, I'm sure the cor story and gameplay is fine, it's just kind of annoying knowing they didn't really have to do much to bring it over here. I'm willing to bet the content is still on the disc, it's just locked out. Whatever though. I'll start playing this next week after XIII & GoW3 are beat.
I'm still very curious as to what got cut out of the game; not seeing a lot of sites come forth with lists and I'm not about to go trawling through message boards for questionably-sourced lists.
http://www.destructoid.com/gasp-yaku...t-166777.phtmlWe already know how Yakuza 3 is blatantly better than Final Fantasy XIII, but it turns out that it could have been even more blatantly better, because some folks have reported that SEGA cut much more content out of the game than was originally revealed.
It wasn't just the hostess bars and the obscure history trivia minigame that were cut out, it seems that the mahjong, shogi, "loser song" minigames were axed, as well as dozens of side quests. Estimates are placed at about 13% of the content available in the game's first 6 chapters were absent from the English version of Yakuza 3.
And it's not just a problem of most players not knowing what they'll miss. Many of those sidequests are worth experience and cashed used to buy upgrades and items, potentially making the game more difficult or grind-heavy.
I don't really understand why they had to go and do this. Why were they concerned about releasing the game ASAP? Were they in that much of a hurry to get steamrolled by Final Fantasy XIII and God of War III? And it's not as if cutting content suddenly makes an already very Japanese game more appealing to western audiences. After all, it was the constant whining by Japanophiles like myself that convinced them to bring the game over in the first place. Sega's continuing inability to properly gauge its audience is maddening.
All that said, I'm just glad Yakuza 3 is happening at all. There's plenty more content available to play, even with the cuts, and I encourage everyone who's interested to take the plunge. If nothing else, you'll get a good game, and Sega might be convinced to bring Yakuza 4 over in a more complete state.
Sega on a roll.
Fucking wonderful. I think I know why they are doing it - budget. Maybe next time it won't be such a fuck up. If there is a next time.
Also the "loser" song is great. I downloaded the ost and it wasn't there, shame. I am going to guess that is because it isn't an original song. Might also explain why they would need to cut it.

EDIT: Looking over the list of cut sidequests it doesn't seem TOO bad. I think I see a quiz or three, a quest about speaking English(lol), a love quest, 1(out of 10) romances cut.
EDIT: Then again one quest is worth 10k exp and all the other quests added up is probably a fuck ton of exp. Really stupid they didn't rebalanced that.
