It's not alert only, I know that much. Try reentering area and looking around again? I dunno, I ran in during alert phase and didn't find him, but after coming back outside of alert he was there. Dunno if it was just coincidence or what. Could also try interrogating someone, might make them appear, I know that gives you hints in some bonus stages.
Found him.
He's over at the Selva de la Leche: Jungle part for me. I guess it's a random spawn for it.
I love that they made CQC how it was in MGS3. Alert doesn't go off right away like in MGS4 if you run up and grab them. However, the game is easy mode because you can run up to anyone and not worry about alerts.
When you get the Sneaking Suit you don't even alert people by running up behind them at full speed. Makes it very easy to take people out without getting alert.
Game is super fun. I'm up to the Helicopter boss atm(haven't tried it since I put the game in Sleep mode last night). Do they dumb down the bosses at all for solo? Cause it didn't feel like it for Pupa lol, had to call in for supplies a few times for more RPG rounds on that annoying guy but I guess that'll teach me to not carry food that restores Psyche and then get hit by lightning a few times.
Might have to setup X-Link Kai for this.
The bosses were clearly made with co-op in mind so they can be challenging doing it solo. I just finished the Cocoon boss and it took me 14mins to kill because I kept running out of ammo.
I'm wanting to get far enough in Chico's briefing files and unlock the monster hunter missions before I do ad-hoc on ps3.
Gave my friend a 24ft Cat 5 cable just so he could wire his GD PS3 for adhocParty for this. About time. I may have to go back and help him with MHF too now that he finally has it wired. Though going back to that after MHTri will be hard.
Have you guys been neutralizing all gaurds for vehicle boss fights? It's pretty frigging monotonous, but I think I got the hang of it now.
Got 2 APCs, 3 Tanks and a 3 of the first tank.
Monotonous indeed.
So far, that's the only way I've fought any of them though... I probably should stop doing it that way since it is kinda boring.
...but at the same time, I want to capture all of those vehicles!
Btw, the first extra op that features a vehicle fight... You can't capture it. Wasted so much time trying.. after 12 soldiers pop out, the tank just spots you right away. Totally lame. You've been warned.
Which one? The first one that I had pop up was EX69, the BTR-60 PA. I think? At least that is the lowest number Vehicle EX i have. It took longer, but I still was able to capture that one.
Only others I have so far from EX is the KPz 70 and AH56A-Bomber.
From Main Ops i have the LAV-Type G, the T-72U, and the MI-24A. All of those captured as well.
On chapter 5 and still missing a lot of EX Ops so only those 6 different Mechs captured so far.
Ya, I just finished Extra Ops 69 and captured it. I had to kill it down to 1 life bar and I think I tranq'd a good 12+ dudes in order to get the Captain to pop out. I barely managed to tranq his ass solo.
The vehicle battles are indeed boring since it can summon so many backup units. Way I usually do it is ignore vehicle -> kill/capture all the soldiers -> do 1 bar of damage and captain will pop out, then tranq alot.
Fought the 2nd AI boss, shit takes alot of Rockets solo lol. Makes me wish I started developing that Surface-to-air missile weapon earlier for this thing.
If you get rid of all the guards without being spotted the guy will pop out letting you capture it at 100%. Otherwise you have to damage the vehicle itself a bit. It's easy to do the tanks without being alerted but I don't think I ever even tried with the choppers. And yeah, some of the bosses are kind of ridiculous solo since they don't make health scale to players. The MH missions felt like they took forever, gotta basically always ensure you take supply packs with you, 'cause you'll go through a ton trying to solo later stuff.
What it the benefit of tranqing a Vehicle's driver/commander? When he pops out I usually just fire one Rocket at his face... & that is that.
Any perk to tranqing him?
Fairly certain you get a higher rank and you capture the unit to work in Outer Heaven.
Ah Rank perhaps but a kill of the Commander also captures the Vehicle. That leads me to another question though...
What is the best way to sleep the MH monsters? Just use a ton of MK tranqs or weaken it quite a bit first like you would in MH?
