MAXCONSOLE - Playstation 3 - Leaked doc says PS2 and Dreamcast games coming to PSN
Interesting if it's true. I wonder if the PS2 games would be for BC units only?

dreamcast games would be epic. I know theres a good handful of gems from that system- I barely played DC, just some virtual on and fighting stuff.
would be pretty amazing, so long as they actually picked some good dreamcast games to put on there. Did Power Stone Collection for PSP have infrastructure multiplayer, or just ad hoc?
PS2 game downloads would be nice too, maybe if they put Fatal Frame on there I won't have to flip the fuck out at gamestop's used prices for the series.
Wow @ this if its true. As long as the prices arent too bad, also would mean I am going to need a new hard drive or maybe buy one of those large proDuo/sanDisk cards![]()
gimme project justice and jet grind radio!
They haven't even released some of the better ps1 games yet so its hard to get excited about a rumor like this.
Would be neat if it turns out to be real, but then I can't really think of many/any DC/PS2 games that I care about and don't already own.
I just hope Sony doesn't take Skies of Arcadia as exclusive. I have it for DC and still HAVE my DC, but it isn't working so well. I've got a PS3 also, but I want to have achievements for it!
Regardless of how it plays out, having access to more games in more formats is always a good thing.
Fuck you Sony. Fuck you in your ass if this is true: it means that BC is never coming back because they'll make more money off this.
Reason this is stupid: Original model PS3's upconvert PS2 games to a higher resolution. If that's all that these releases do you're paying more money for a game you might already own to make it look better.
I don't even think your non BC ps3's can play ps2 games off the HD at this point. It probably forecasts they have figured a way to do it completely with software. Also, it said something along the lines of sony wanting to sell ps2 games on PSN.... for all we know they could just do a firmware update to the ps2 slims and offer game downloads, and a hard drive in a new model.
Given GoW1/2 will be running 720p (rather than stretching a 480p display to 1080p like the BC does.), I'm assuming they're porting it from PS2 to PS3 rather than emulating. They had to go into the game to muck about and add trophies to it anyway.
Think of it along the same lines as that Ocarina of Time/Master's Quest pack GameCube owners got back in the day.
If they released DC games for PSN I would probably pick it up sooner rather than later. Though that also has a lot to do with Yakuza 3 coming stateside.

The long-rumored, recently leaked existence of PlayStation 2 games joining the "PS One Classics" line comes a bit closer to reality, at least in the mind of PlayStation senior VP Peter Dille who calls the digital re-issues a "terrific opportunity."
In an interview with IGN, Dille says that the PlayStation folks are "working really hard on" bringing more PlayStation and PlayStation 2 games to the PlayStation Store, not quite an official announcement, but another glimmer of hope.
"From our side, we're going through our own studio organization and trying to make sure all these old games are out there so that we can lead by example, but we're also communicating with all the third-parties about the success of the Final Fantasy games, and other PS1 and PS2 classics," Dille tells IGN. "By all means, I think people can look for more of that because once the third-parties see how this works, it's just found money. There's not a whole lot of work that has to go into it and once we can get it up on the network, it finds an audience pretty quickly."
With PS2 backward compatibility all but dead on the PlayStation 3 going forward, it would seem like some of that "found money" would be an attractive option for Sony. About as attractive as the rumored addition of Dreamcast games to the PS3 would be for me.
Maybe we'll hear something official closer to GDC or E3 this year.
That's pretty cool. I'd rather see Dreamcast games though, I never actually owned one and my PS2 still works just fine.
I'd buy Skies of Arcadia.
But I don't think I'd buy any PS2 ones, I have a working ps2 and all the ps2 games id ever play, would be a waste to buy them again.
I'd be pissed if Dreamcast games went solely to PS3, as if Microsoft was somehow Sega's only console competitor. And Sony was like "good game, kid."
Gimmie Project Justice and NFL 2k. That game STILL has prettier snow and better announcing than any Madden, and I love Madden.
Fuck that. Dreamcast games would be much better![]()
