You're right, as simple scripts based on oft-repeated stories -- which don't require much creative thought at all to conjure -- will always make more people laugh than something more ingenious and off-the-wall. Cheap, thoughtless laughs win over the masses.

A sad truth, indeed, though it's not really a knock against the comic you've praised. I commend the guy for having the balls to make something like that, and post it. I pity the fool who has such simple humor-related tastes, however.
