Talent Calculator - World of Warcraft

I use this for my pld spec, and nobody touches me on threat, in 25 raid i pull 7-9k w/o using avenging wrath, usually do 2-2.5k single target dps and 4-5k if i'm aoe tanking and have all the defensive talents needed for survival.

can armory my pld if you want, Skyypio on dragonblight.

As far as i'm concerned this is about as good of a prot spec as you can get. If you use any of the other builds you just don't understand the class very well. There's maybe a few points that can be interchanged but with all the defensive gear available now it's all about upping the dmg.

I'm surprised you don't have it either, since expertise rating is about 80% as good as dodge rating for reducing incoming damage. I'm surprised you didn't take Vindication as well.

I'm not a fan of Vindication, it's minimally useful compared to the dps increase from conviction/crusade. I'm just surprised about SoV because it's as good an offensive glyph as a defensive one, as fewer dodged/parried attacks = more dps/tps, and fewer parried attacks = less incoming damage.

This is really dumb, there's not only one way to do Prot. That spec may work for you, but not for someone else. Especially glyphs, theres a huge range of useful glyphs to choose from.

I think it is pretty arrogant to say your build is "the best," especially when you could get more dps/tps by shuffling a few points around. It may work great for you in your guild, but it might not in another, depending on how skilled your guild members are. I suggest this:

3/3 Crusade >>> 5/5 Conviction. Crusade gives 12 DPS and 30 TPS per point over Conviction, double that if you get the additional damage bonus.

2/2 Spiritual Attunement is not needed. 1/2 should be sufficient for all current raid encounters (sans Vezex, I suppose)

Glyph of Vengeance is better than Glyph of HotR, unless you only tank trash and/or heroics.

There are better alternatives to Bladewarding for paladins for dps/avoidance/threat. Get Mongoose or Accuracy.

If you haven't yet, go check out this thread on Maintankadin (just to prove I'm not pulling stuff out of my ass):

Maintankadin • View topic - Theck's MATLAB TPS analysis (A Jonesy derivative work)

    I'm on Dragonblight too, lol.

I recently got Shiver and was looking for what to enchant it with, Elitist Jerks doesn't mention Mongoose at all but does mention Bladewarding as being Top tier. Maintankadin isn't even updated to include bladeward. I'd like to see where you found out that Mongoose is better then Bladeward.

This is one of the worst pieces of WoW advice I've ever seen.

    Ever.

Also, yeah, I didn't look at Skyyla's glyphs before, if you're raiding and super concerned about threat, but running with hotr glyph over vengeance, you've got some work to do before you state that people with a different build "don't understand the class."

Oh, and mongoose is really bad now.

Not that anything else is resembling good these days, but mongoose is extremely bad.

Two talent points to mitigate a whopping 4 mob dps is a waste.

Especially when you can instead get a few hundred dps boost on yourself.

Try looking at the actual talent in game instead of on a calculator.

Hint: the 20+ page thread on the tanking forum about how dk's need vindication isn't there because of "4 mob dps".

Are you looking at armory or something?

Vindication is one of the biggest damage reduction talents (at least on physical fights) a paladin gets.

At level 80 it's -574 ap. That's equal to 5/5 improved demo shout.

NPC AP is very low, it's a huge reduction.

I'm looking at it in game, it doesn't say anything about stacking so if it stacks then I've misunderstood it for a very long time. It seemed like it was just a constant -46ap, lol. Never actually tested it though, I've got ADD about respecs or something. Have to have a damnedably good reason for it.

It makes sense that it would be ~500 ap, because it doesn't stack with demo shout....and the only reason it would do that is if it was an equivalent debuff.

It is our version of demo shout. Except it's better because it just applies on its own, and with the 2 talents we spend, we get the same as they get if they have 5/5 improved.

Now, I'm not saying it's an absolute must have for any paladin build-- if you raid with a ret pally that has it, you don't *need* to have it, too (although it's not a terrible idea anyway, the chances of you having 100% uptime on your target via having a ret pally are slim, unless all you're doing is toc).

But if you're not, it's definitely something that should be the paladin's responsibility to get, even if you raid with a war, because a war has to spend 5 talent points to match it.

And no, it doesn't stack, it's just a static 574, dunno why it's showing up wrong for you. Gimme a sec and I'll post a ss.

Probably the smart choice to advance the tree until the div sac buff goes through. Although if you're doing togc, stoicism is not a terrible thing either.

First thing that pops into mind for me is 20 sec off your interrupt on jaraxas, and of course FC. I switch to ret for fc anyway, though.
