Doubt very much he knew anything. Otherwise why would he allow all the supplies to go with the group of 17?

he didnt know, he may have suspected, they are just showing us that last scene for dramatic effect because the colonel already doesnt trust rush and want to keep that going

More like for the first time in the series there was no actual cliffhanger ending, so they had to manufacture a fake one. Breathable air and not plunging into the sun? RUSH MUST HAVE KNOWN ALL ALONG!

Thank god the music in this show is pretty decent, it keeps me from raging too hard at the road bumps in the script.

I kinda got the impression that he didn't know, but that moment when he put the book down he had the idea that maybe the star was part of the plan. Then we got the happy faces and joy scenes. He seemed genuine about removing himself from the lottery as he felt his place was on the ship. The flaw with this is that for this to be the case he would have retorted back at the colonel when he was questioned about knowing anything. Instead he just took it like "I'm not answering". I think they should have made the ending a little better. We know ppl don't like/trust him but so much, and its not like he did anything to 'save' them as the ship did it all. There still would have been plenty of room for 'drama' in the story.

I too believe it was genuine (about not knowing it'd recharge). I can also buy that "if I was gonna die anyways, this would be the best place..." If it's your life-long work to explore space, then what better place to die than on that ship... or something...

Rush is smart, so there is the possibility that he had a slight idea it might happen, but why bother bringing it up if the chances are slim.

If he did know something about it, the only thing I can see him gaining was if he wanted to start a mutiny later there might be people pissed off enough at the Colonel to do it. A lot of people were whining on how unfair it was. And was stated that if the Colonel didn't rig the drawing, people would accuse him of it anyways.

Also if he knew about it and told the Colonel, then there wouldn't be the whole dramatic effect for the Colonel to think "I should/should've listen to this guy."

maybe thats just it, the directors have us internet nerds arguing over if he did or didnt know. perhaps this was all part of there plan from the beginning

    I Had an thought.

Maybe the alterians figured out the exact point in the Universe the Big Bang happened at, and made this ship to explore all the way to that point. And the explore that point.

So we know why the planet in Air (3) was dry now... it seems it wasn't the ancients who helped Scott there, it was these "bugs" looking for water. Just a coincidence that it helped Scott.

my feelings on this episode are 50/50

I'm not sure how I feel about the introduction of wonky little aliens. I like the struggle of man alone, powerless, against the vastness of the universe.

Yeah but I kind of like that they made sure to remove the idea of ancients always being there to help. Just glad to remove that "intervention by god" that always saves the day from the show. I mean they are out exploring a part of the universe that the ancients didn't get to, and even in energy form they keep to Pegasus and Milky Way. Even the Ori tended to stay in their galaxy.

To add/coment on Kaslo, that morganna gal did leave and go TO the Ori galaxy to help SG1. So we know they can move around and they kick on the gates without the big splash like the DHD's make when they dial. I wasn't thinking the ancients as a whole, I thought maybe the crew of this ship assended and they just decided to stay and continue exploring. I still wonder what happened to the ships crew. It was cool that they did explain away the little wind wisps as the bugs though. And are we sure they really helped him on the 1st planet or were they just checking him out and he was hallucinating and got lucky?

More likely that it was luck, but I did like the connection between the episodes and the inferrable explanation about how the first planet ended up the way it did. I'm also glad they seemingly got rid of the thought of ancients helping them out, It'd feel too repetitive to just have them save the day all the time when it's too much to win themselves.

Sath: Aliens are arguably part of that vastness, aliens that they don't have any idea about or how they work. I'm thinking that by doing things the way they did with these little guys, they can introduce the idea of an alien and a way to overcome them without a potentially huge backstory to them or needing to explain much about them, and letting us infer what we will about them (such as them causing the barren state of the first planet, or them being knowledgable enough to know when someone is trying to attack them and defending themselves, but otherwise being quite peaceful)

Biggest problem I have is the chloe and Lt Scott romance. It totally came out of nowhere. I'm sure they'll end up explaining what the fuck happened but it seems kinda forced.
