I'm getting more disappointed with this show with every new episode. I love SG-1 and Atlantis (I prefer Atlantis, but only slightly), but this show feels nothing like Stargate (aside from the fact that they sometimes travel by a huge ring, called Stargate). I don't hate the cast, but I do dislike some characters that have been mentioned in this thread a few times (like Chloe).
There seems to be no exploration (the few episodes that have taken place off-world have been pretty stale, except for the 108, Time), which was a big element in both SG-1 and SGA. I know SGA started pretty slow, and you could argue that SGU is also just laying some background, but unlike SGA, SGU isn't trying to explain the concepts of the Stargate universe (ironyyy) to the viewer, but rather trying to ignore them.
Most of the screentime is taken by pointless drama (pointless as in there seems to be no character development or longer story arcs involving characters backgrounds, aside from the very obvious one with the nurse and Col. Young) and the show seems to be trying to emulate Battlestar Galactica to some degree, with poor results.
I miss going to new planets and meeting new civilization, acquiring new technology and seeing Daedalus-class ships destroy bigger motherships with Asgard lasers. Oh, and having a cast of characters that are at least somewhat relatable.
Sorry for the rant, I just miss Atlantis very much.

And I do hope that Universe gets better, as it's the only Stargate series we got now, thanks to Atlantis being canceled so that Universe wouldn't have competition.
