excellent final episode
Well no that's in normal space time traveling. The way I understand it the FTL drive is like a primative hyper drive. So they are faster than light but not in the large hyper drive speeds. Remember the SGA episode where they went out between the galaxies doing something with the gate bridge and rodny detected something traveling at like .99 the speed of light and it was an atlantis cruser that was going to earth and their hyper drive was just too damaged to fix so they just uped their sub light to as fast as possable. THAT'S the kind of travel your thinking of I think. From how I understand that next galaxy is just a hella far away so it will take three years in FTL.
I hope someone'll pick up the series before 10, 15 years have passed and the cast is all visibly older and the only sensible thing left would be to skip ahead to wherever they are in the story accounting for that laps in time and gypping us out of everything in between.
So in the last 10 min of the episode I was expecting:
Spoiler: show
@Lahan
I think it's 3 years in FTL because they're bypassing the current galaxy which they said they were only 1/3 the way into and then the gap between them as well.
BUT WRESTLING GUYS!!! RIGHT?
right?
But yeah I am pissed they didn't even end the story, and the movie is canceled. Fuck you Syfy. SGU was the only show left on the channel I watched anymore... sorry but I'm not interested in C rated scifi movies and repeats of the same shit shows all day long.
"C rated movies" is being awfully generous.
Apparently Eureka and Being Human make more money than SGU somehow.
Probably lower budget... esepcially in the writing department.
Well the hyperdrives were a way of by-passing the rules of light travel, (things traveling at the speed of light experience time at a much much slower rate) as to not get out of sync with the 'real time'. (millions of years going by on earth)
I think the 'perceived time' for a photon traveling to say Andromeda is 1 second? which is about 2 million light years away.
So for Destiny to cover the voids between galaxies in only 3years it would need to be going at least 500 thousand times the speed of light. (assuming the distance is only 1-3million light years between galaxies)
I haven't actually watched that show yet, but I am biased for it since it has Amanda Tapping. I'd tap that etc
Sanctuary was just moved to monday nights also right? I imagine that show wont be far behind SGU. Fuck that show anyways. Amanda Tapping is great but I cant get over her accent and the show is 90% greenscreen. Its an altogether terrible show. And dont get me started on Eureka.. Hasnt been good since season 1.
ahgshlfdjasldkf so much anger at SyFy. I hate it so much. Gimme back SCIFI you assholes.
