There is simply nothing we can do because we aren't professionals or world leaders, hell we don't even have the money to exercise the kind of power for the change this kind of stuff requires. We should really just assume our roles; we're nothing but ignorant consumers who have no political or economic power. We have no business in economics and politics and should just let the elites handle it.

The problem is that, in America at least, the "elite" are elected from the people, and are not neccesarily any more educated. In places like the UK where they have to work their way up the civil service ladder and the PM is always from a place like Oxford, this fits into what you're suggesting, but most congressmen + Presidents have a bachelor's degree at the most - which isn't hard to get here, as compared to other countries.

Perhaps if they are so small that their voices cannot be heard, then they are not meant to be heard? They don't have the resources to be educated enough, therefore they will have useless opinions that should not be taken into account. Sure, their specific interests won't be addressed, but an intelligent and powerful man is far more capable of marginally serving some of their interests. It is not practical to serve the interests of the common people.

As for nazi style government, these protesters should be grateful they live in a land where they are allowed to protest! Their government and nation is no nazi nation. Sure, the US government may support heavy handed governments around the world that aren't democratic, but the same logic as above applies here. If smaller countries' voices cannot be heard, then perhaps they weren't meant to be heard?

And finally, are you sure these protestors aren't animals? At the very least i thought they loved animals enough to marry one.

Demo you just went from zero to pyscho in about two seconds. Calm down dood. I am personally affected by these people. They aren't animals but their protesting is affecting nobody except the people who live in the area. All they are doing is making our lives harder for two days. Oh and breaking the windows out of almost two dozen places just last night alone. And throwing rocks at police at the Pitt campus in Oakland. While I'm not going to comment on the validity of their arguments I will say this.

There are legal protests scheduled all day today. They actually have the permit to protest. The city isn't trying to silence anyone here. These people felt that their cause is so just that they should break the law and greatly affect the people they are supposedly protesting for. You want to end global warming? How about don't fucking cause such a huge traffic jam that people are stuck sitting in the same spot for an hour with their evil evil non hybrid vehicles. It's in the best interests of global warming that you allow these people to get out of these evil ozone destroying machines as soon as possible.

I'm not going to say they are animals. I will however say that they are complete and total idiots. Breaking shit and forcing the police to use tear gas and rubber bullets is NOT the way to get your point across.

I'm mostly just scared of animal rights activists bombing me to save the monkeys/rats/zebrafish. I prefer it when they sit around with signs saying we should use computer models and autopsies as an alternative for research.

I work on the brain . . . if we could model it sufficiently then we wouldn't have to research it. If the brain was working in dead people then we wouldn't be dead. It isn't like we bring animals in and then kill them. They take a long time to train. Once we have them we keep them alive, healthy, and happy as long as we can.


Idk. They can protest all they want but they're just hurting the people they're trying to defend. If they really cared about the state of the world they should have worked harder in school and did whatever needed to be done to become one of the leaders they're trying to influence.
