I guess you've never heard of MediaGo.

Doesn't PSP already have this? I mean you can't exit the game, but hitting the power button will pause your game and put your PSP to sleep, will it not?
Yeah. I love this feature. Very handy when I play during my lunch break at work and have to go back before I can save the game. In fact, I seldom quit games at all until I'm done with them because of it. No need to wait through the boot-up process and loading/continuing of a saved game.
I traded in PSP to get PSP go, and decided to get another PS3 instead.
Slim is pretty slick.
PSP's death seems imminent when PS3 is only 50$ more.
Except that its not.... psp3000 in japan is now $185 USD, psp go is the only one close to ps3... and that will drop 50~ in the next year or so. They always have a 50~ higher cost for early adopters.

was the deal, don't think you can still do it.
Forgive me, I'm referring more so to the PSP Go (PSP Go, I think is going to Fail Hard). I hardly use my PSP but I thought the PSP Go was slick as hell, and truth be told, it is. However, I was counting on the UMD exchange program to upgrade--You know, what Sony had mentioned as being in the works. Recently this week, Sony said that this wouldn't be possible at launch and will -possibly- look into it in the future. Additionally, I've seen rumors of a PSP-4000 being in development.
Consequently, when I look at the PSP's current and future catalog, nothing interests me except for the new MGS game.
Fuck PSP 1.5 give me a PSP 2.0 then ill buy it.
I think Sony ran into some roadblocks with game devs and possibly retail stores regarding this.
To be honest, Sony doesn't owe current PSP owners jack. You got exactly what you paid for when you bought your previous PSP and UMD games. To expect to be able to get digital copies of games you already own is unrealistic. Those who can't handle that don't have to "upgrade".
That being said, Sony could have handled this situation a lot better than it did. I'm actually surprised they did not come up with a way to hook up an external UMD reader to the PSP.
Yeah there has to be lots of underline (we don't know reasons) why sony took this route.. but w/e it is what it is. I would buy a PSP go when the price drops.. right now..i don't have a PS3, easy peasy decision.
PS: the PSP SLIM +, supports save states with homebrew.. but that is another topic to it self.
You can't really call me out on being unrealistic, because I would not have assumed that I would be able to trade in my UMDs for digital copies unless Sony had said so. Sony did say so, and waited four days before launch to say, "UMD Trade ins?..lol nvm."
So, I'm not being 'unrealistic.' I just felt that Sony backed up on a promise, so I backed out on mine.
I understand the reasoning for not being able to do so, as they mention that there are legal issues and such. But once again, this was FOUR days before launch. I think it was a shady move on their part, as I think it's possible that they've known longer, but left it until recently to not hurt PSP GO's sales.
They didn't promise there was going to be anything...they said they were looking into it. Big difference.
Sony's Brian Keltner told Kotaku , "We are looking into programs for owners who have previously purchased UMD titles and want to exchange them for digital versions. It's something we are still hammering out the details. As soon as we have solid plans in place we will make an announcement."
someone give me a list of reasons to buy this and what it does, when i have a ps3 (which I play 1-2times a week if that), play my DSi for a few hours everyday (using roms/homebrews) and have a modded god of war PSP in my closet that I modded just to put FF7 on played for 2days and havent touched since march/april/may of 2008 when i did this.
Obviously, other than it looking cool.
Either way, it's more than just one factor. I understand that there's reasoning for it being too much of a hardship (legally or economically) for Sony to undertake the program. I just find it hard to imagine that the situation I find myself in is dissimilar to other people that were thinking of upgrading, which will probably hinder PSP Go Sales. Additionally, I'm hearing that other people don't want to buy because you can't buy clearance titles.. The PSP Go has a lot of things going against it that Sony is hoping that the consumer looks past. The last sentence you may completely disagree with, but Sony -would- benefit from consumer ignorance.
Like I said before, it is a slick device, I was playing with one when a Sony rep came by at Best Buy.
Well I agree with you on some points. I feel that DD games should be cheaper than UMDs, for obvious reasons. Although I have heard word that sales of psp-3000s are increasing for those who can't stomach the price of the PSP Go...so maybe this was part of Sony's plan all along.
On the other hand, Sony can't help it if a retailer has a surplus of titles and is looking to unload them for ridiculously low prices. But as it stands you can get GoW PSP for 19.99 at the store and on PSN has it for 22.99 or 23.99. That's some bullshit right there.
