I think I like this better because the comedy seems to be more pure or smart compared to the others. Laugh tracks and obvious punchlines seem to cheapen comedy (not saying that applies to what you mentioned since I just cant get into 30rock and fotc is hit and miss, BoT is really good though) although they probably help get more viewers since they know when they are supposed to laugh.

MF also seems to have more hidden comedy in it, just little stuff like when the dad is running down the stairs at the end and the stair creaks and he quickly mentions needing to fix it just adds to the depth of the situation. It's probably more likely to be re-watched for me than other comedies due to these things.

Laugh track or not, when it comes down to it Modern Family is still a father knows best sitcom, which is certainly a genre that could use the new life that this show is breathing into it, and outside of Phil all the characters are relatively stereotypical sitcom characters, which I feel can not compete at 30 Rock's level where the entire cast is operating at or above Phil's level of comedic behavior. Hidden jokes abound plenty on the other shows as well. I'm not trying to denigrate this show because its definitely my favorite so far of this season, just I think its a clever and original way to look at a traditional sitcom format and not 22min of manic insanity that bounces between every sitcom genre (30 Rock/BoT) or 30min of innovative musical comedy.

Idk, it was funny for me from teh first episode. If you can't stand tracy morgan then you won't find the show funny. Try end of season 1/season 2, alot of the first one had a bit of a sex and teh city vibe that I found offputting.

I really love this show. Every episode but I think the 3rd one has been really good. I just love the main dad in this, everything he does is great. His whole conversation with his wife where she is trying to be alone but he just doesn't get it is amazing.
