Idk, I feel that each adult + manny + glasses daughter manage to steal a scene every episode, its so hard to compare cause they all have had so many geniunely hilarious moments.

the look on Ed O Neill's face as the nurse listed all of her problems rivaled anything on the office or curb for awkwardness.

One of the things I think this show does really well is the non verbal comedy like the facial expressions and whatnot.

This show seems to be really well done, carefully planned, well written, full use of the characters and environments to tell jokes, all good things in a comedy. Also, one of the more recent trends in television comedy is the use of awkwardness and one truly oblivious and socially retarded characters, and I don't like it. Thankfully Modern Family takes no part in it.

The Office is my prime example. Now, the show does have quite a number of truly funny moments, and even well written parts, but Michael Scott has become this monstrosity of obliviousness and social awkwardness. Some things are ok, but there are times when his hi jinks and other escapades reach a near in-human level, and it becomes almost unbearable to me.

Modern Family, in my estimation, has avoided most of this, and while Phil is occasionally oblivious, it's in a human way. The characters all seem, all be it at times over the top, to be models of real people, and also come together to make a family I can believe in. I don't find myself sitting there going "No one is like this" in response to their actions.

While I like this show more then The Office so far my reasons would differ from what you just said, since I've seen plenty of people like M. Scott. Do not underestimate the stupidity of humanity.

Wow I think Chazz Palmintieri might've been the funniest guest star they've had so far and all have been great.

I've been very surprised by abc this season. On top of all the big new sci fi shows, they rolled out some of the best comedies I've seen in a long time... all in one season. I am currently loving modern fam along with better off ted and even cougar town(they quickly ditched the older woman/young guy aspect of the show). I've slowly been starting to watch scrubs as well, but after last season's erratic theme, I have not been into it as much, not to mention the insane story shift that started the new season.

So, ABC is tops this season in my book. Hopefully they don't cancell EVERYTHING, I know several of their new shows have/may get dropped.
