Dreamweaver is expensive. There might be other cheaper tools that work well on your platform of choice, like, say, a regular text editor if you can handle that. You might also want to think about what you need for image manipulation, because that's also part of the equation when designing websites.

Yeah, I personally use Notepad++. Only reason I was using Dreamweaver was an example of something someone could buy, bang their head against the wall for a while, and eventually spit out a website on their own. As far as images go, I use Paint.net, so I should be rather set there.

Just got back from the initial meeting, was rather painless and got a lot more than I expected in the deal. Should work out rather well for me from the looks of it, although I'm sure to hit a snag somewhere along the line. I'm going to make sure to have a contract too once more things get worked out. Right now they still need to get a lot of content together before I can really even do anything, plus it'll ensure I can put together a solid contract of what is expected of me.

In this case, cook up some "basic templates" (but don't show them) so you can slide content in when it becomes available. Don't give the impression you work fast, but appear busy.

Your ultimate fear is when/if they discover potentially (it's not really, when it comes to making something that looks good) how easy it can be. So your work should match or exceed what's available on the net (Within reason).

Just make sure you have a contract written up that says something along the lines of

1 major revision and 1 minor revision free of charge

once the contract is signed. Everything else should cost extra. If you don't want your sanity tested, do this and stand by it.

I did something similar to this when putting up a website for a friends' dance troupe years ago. I said I would do it for free, meaning what they get is what they get, and that I would charge $100 an hour for revisions.

They really liked what I came up with.
