Concealed Handgun License

I don't really understand why you are asking for a concealed, outside the house weapon for a home defense situation. A good reliable pump like a Mossberg 500 or Remington 870, or a Saiga 12 if you don't mind the increase in price, would probably serve better defending the house than a pistol would. However, if you are married to the idea of getting a handgun and the 10mm round I think the Witness by Tangfaglio (based on the CZ-75) would also be a good choice although I'm not sure how compact they come in comparison to the Glock models for carrying around all day. Make sure that you get something with night sights or have night sights available aftermarket.

Recently there have been an alarming amount of break-ins at my apartment and the surrounding areas. Recently a friend of a friend was held at gunpoint by 3 people who made of with all his electronics and such.

So, I've been debating getting a handgun since loading my Winchester everytime is going to take too long to be very effective. I've been looking at a 10mm, G20 or G29.

How many BGers have their CHL/CCW/etc and what do you carry?

Don't carry a glocknade. You don't need 10mm.

Go buy a officer 1911 or go get a Sig or Beretta 9mm.

Just remember that if you pull it out you better be ready to pull the trigger.

Definitely, don't chicken out. Be ready to defend.

Of course, after having drawn the gun and you are ready to pull the trigger (should you encounter a danger), you still have to assess the situation. If you come home to find your door ajar, and draw your weapon while you look around, be ready to fire. But if you find it's just your wife who came home early and didn't close the door because her arms were full, then you can put it away.

You're not the only one OP ;x There's been a rash of bad break ins uncomfortably close in my usually quiet area (Cypressfag), to the point I've felt the need to keep my gun within relative close proximity. I own a 9mm Beretta Px4, which is nice for my small hands and handles well with little kick (in comparison to firing my dad's H&K USP and a .357 mag for fun-- the later which honestly felt like it could break my wrist). Going to work on CHL once I finish up with my labs for this semester.

This is gonna sound stupid to a very big lotta you but don't you think that you'd be better off not pulling out a gun and just getting stolen whatever it is that the guy is stealing?

Because the probabilities of getting hurt via a gun is much more likely if you have a gun too, just sayin'.

Naturally, when people are unsafe they are scared. When they are safely, reliably, and adequately protected, they are no longer afraid.

tend doesn't account for all robberies but the research I have seen list a huge majority of people committing robberies want the money and do not intend to cause harm.

But what about the person they sold the handgun that they stole from your house to?

I'm not even trying to make an argument about whether handguns should be legal or anything, I'm just pointing out that depending on a handgun to stop a roving gang of armed robbers from robbing you is likely going to end with you either getting shot or adding another stolen handgun to the black market.

This is speaking more or less specifically to the OP. He knows that there are several armed people doing it, what makes him think going out and buying a handgun is going to help?

You know what also would be sound logic?

Either Move if you neighborhood is that bad or.. and this is gonna sound very wacky and out there because I'm sure no one has done this before but maybe just maybe it would be better to invest in

I got no problem with that. You guys can keep all your guns.

I do however have a problem with people that think they're safe because they have a handgun. That its the fix all solution.
