Probably Aion (once I get my next paycheck) and FFXIV. Played WoW for a while but lost interest.

I still have the urge to log into FFXI from time to time but I don't think that I'd really do anything but stand around and chat so I haven't.

Any time over the last 2-3 years SE could have sent Maury a C+D, but they haven't.

This action will do nothing to actually prevent botting. If they were serious about stopping botting via legal means, there'd be letters on the desk's of Kace, Aikar, Apnea etc. too.

I'm not convinced this is a coincidence, and wouldn't be surprised if this is a shot across the bow to anyone that is currently botting.

I think SE may be planning something. Possibly something like Warden?

@Aksannyi, I see. I have heard good things about Aion and read some Wow folks are migrating over because a nerf on DK and AV was the last straw for them.

The 8 pages worth of "ffxi-apps and nasa are dead" on this site and who knows how many on other sites says different. If they want to kill the game, then yeah. They'de go after windower.

On BG, it's 8 pages of "so what I have another bot". On other community sites it'll be "yeah SE go stick it to the botters woo". Not really a deterrent.

Three sites are active with threads about it. FFah has quotes from BG as well and Alla is quoting BG in their threads about it. I haven't read other forums though.

@Mysterious, I am not sure just speculating about companies with shareholders and a major mmo in forcast having to take the future into consideration as far as their playerbase is concerned. Starting out a fresh bot free game while all of the advanced apps are being used by their continuing client base is certainly something to consider putting in check. Having brand logo as part of the product name is likely easier to prosecute though, as others have mentioned here. If they can sue some one for looking like one of their characters in a video, I would think they could go after anyone.

I was also wondering how long it would take them to say something about apps being used for their most noteworthy NM, AVirtue.

If SE were determined to eradicate botting by suing anyone writing third party tools, whether they were free or not would not be an issue.

I believe this is for show/a warning, and they are preparing something else. I hope I'm wrong cause the Hagun ENM was a nice moneymaker duo'd.

I don't know where all the hype from Aion is coming from except the fact that there a a bunch of people that just want to be cool and play the new pretty game. It's just another Korean MMO. There really isn't anything special about it. It is REAL pretty, but it's just basically WoW Jr. in play style.

And the people that bitch about the DK "nerf" (ZOMG now I can't cooldown through every single attack and might actually have to take some damage) and the AV XP nerf are just little bitches that were looking for a "last straw" so they can go to Aion and tell their other bitch friends how cool they were for quitting that "crappy" game so that they can play a WoW clone with 5 years less content and a crappy Dev team.

Well I played WoW because a lot of my friends were playing it, when they stopped, I lost interest. Now a lot of those people are going to be playing Aion so I will play that at least for a while.

They are kind of.
I do a lot of reading, very fascinated by the different cultures of various gaming boards and communities.

Alla has some anti BG stuff going on with BG supporters backlashing them and correcting their sensationalist quotes about our reactions to it. AH has more people posting links to new bots though and more people celebrating it. All sites show a similar apathy to it as far as it doing any damage. There are some cross posters on the boards too but I haven't felt up to posting about it elsewhere yet.
