TGS 2009 Trailer Analysis

Even though we knew there would be nothing beforehand, I know a lot of people were disappointed at the lack of Final Fantasy XIV info. To try and make up for that, I took a frame-by-frame look at the trailer they released.

Tanaka had stated before that the E3 trailer contained some hidden message. Taking him at his word, I thought maybe there are hints in the current trailer that we could use. So, the article attempts to make some logical conclusions and in other places make speculative leaps, but I hope you find it interesting.

haha man first thing i thought for some reason when kefka tower is mentioned is... the outerspace battle type stuff going on in FF2/4 where you go to the moon to fight zeromus/goblez.

Well theirs spaceship type mechanical thing, maybe its possible...? who knows. Fantasy game, anythings possible ... some celestial being/body/planet threatening the world!

Wasn't there a pic of some form of giant laser blasting a forest also in a pic somewhere? (well top of http://www.eorzeapedia.com/forums/ )

Not sure if thats the full pic or even from ffxiv... either way its probably something big if so, and to cast such a large amount of red light over the world.

Something else im not sure that been touched on is the general conflict.
I noticed in this trailer and the one before that the dragons are attacking the "airships".
Could this imply some sort of struggle between old ways (magic stuff) and this new tech?
Perhapse this new tech is some invading force or nation? As most everything that weve seen dealing with players have been low tech and rather renaissance feeling.

The only thing that sways me in the 1st trailer of the guy riding in one of the airships.
But myb he is using one to get to the larger one(dungeon).

Idk just curious as to why the dragons are against these airships.

anyone noticed the sword that the players hold in the ship scene with the jellyfish? 3 characters having 3 onion swords :D the same sord that was used in the GC alpha version. i think we deserved new sword models in pics and trailers from now on!

I noticed an article at eorzeapedia.com...
specifically .../2009/06/04/ign-reveals-more-info-with-qa/
mentions that the hidden message is in the game logo.

That message has been known for a while (the wheel of weapons). So, not sure if there is something new.

The shoes with the thick soles that Elmer noticed look like English north country clogs. They have a thick wooden sole and a leather upper. I'd guess they're kinda low level because in real life they're not very comfortable and slip off frequently.
