Ideally, you are supposed to uncover them after like 24 hours, and just keep them moist with the goo (or petroleum jelly, etc). However, underneath welding sleeves, I can't imagine them getting much air, so, yeah, goop em up, loose gauze wrap, and prolly change it during your lunch break.

Neosporin and some surgical gauze pads will do the trick.

Don't want to hijack your thread but I've been thinking about getting a tatoo for a while now and haven't felt the need to make a thread on it. I want something small on either my right upper bicep/shoulder or back shoulder blade. Anyone have any suggestions or cool ideas they've seen/have? I don't want the same old kanji or tribal stuff that everyone and their mother has.

Yeah I was doubting myself as I was typing that, have heard something to the same effect and it's been a good three years since my last tat. I'm trying to remember what the fuck I used. Probably A&D, that sounds familiar.

All you really should be putting on a tat in the healing stages is fragrance free non dyed lotion, 2 - 3 x daily.

Bandage them up, in your case, so the gloves don't irritate the wounds and they can heal properly. Change the bandages and wash them with non-allergenic soap at lunch, and when you get home from work. Hope that helps.

NONONO.. Never use Neosporin. It can pull the color from the Tattoo. You also want to keep it loosely covered, incase it does dry out, and it starts to scab and stick to the bandages. Ideally, your tattoo shouldn't scab too bad if everything is taken care of.

Neosporin = potentially very bad for your tat color

When you first get the tattoo you are supposed to keep it moist with lotion NOT petroleum jelly or anything like that, those will cause infections and other issues healing. Then once the tattoo has scabbed over completely and starts to flake slightly stop putting anything on it. In neither stage is it a good idea to cover it with anything even if it will be under clothing. Just keep it clean and moisturized with lotion and only use hypo allergenic non scented white lotion.

Oh yeah Neosporin is a big no-no but A & D is ok for the first couple of days but after that switch to lotion for a week or two depending on how fast it begins to heal.

As stated before, do not use Neosporin. It will cause the color to come out with your scabs.

If you honestly have no idea of what you want, I would suggest not getting one(at least for the time being). Tattoos are with you the rest of your life (unless if you want to get it lasered off, but fuck that) and it should be something you are proud to show someone. However, the best tattoo artists that I know, won't let you get a tattoo with them if you tell them what you want. They simply draw what they wish. www.DanHazelton.com - Custom Tattoo Galleries is a local guy here, and I think his work is fantastic. He's one of the guys who just draws whatever the fuck is in his mind, and that's what you get.
