i know it's been asked before but i've never seen a good answer. is there a solution to ffxi crashing due to spellcast? i've had files checked and no errors were found. seem like the crashes happen (randomly) when there's 2 events that overlap. like casting shadows/fight ends (both try to do something different).

Are you running 2.3? Thought that was one of the issues addressed.

I'm re-writing all my old spellcasts from scratch. (They all got lost when my old HDD sploded).

One thing is confusing the fuck out of me. Sometimes I'll write the code, and it looks perfect, and should work. But it doesn't. So I'll Copy a similar section that does work, edit it, just to make sure I didn't make a typo anywhere. That one works. Out of curiosity I will copy the old code and new code to see what I did wrong in the old code.

There is absolutely no difference between the old and new code. I can copy the new over the old, undo and redo it over and over and not a single thing changes. Yet the new, identical code works.
How is it that with two identical pieces of code, one works and one doesn't?

Try the active SpellCast thread, rather than necro-ing the one that has been dead for eight months.

I'll go the high road and request that you at least look at page one of the posts since the existing spellcast thread is one of the first ones.
