I wouldn't send him out on the street just because of that. Who's to say he won't carjack someone else and then kill them this time?

I don't give a crap if the guy is sorry and the girl says she's okay with him being free. She's no longer a potential victim (or she could even be a repeat victim in the future, who knows?). However, since he's on the lamb, what's to say a pardon won't give him an excuse to do it again?
Everyone is a potential victim to a multitude of crimes. Your point?

"But he might do it again" ~ Statistically, Young Black Males located in urban areas are more likely to commit violent crimes, but we don't lock them up preemptively for things they *might* do.

She forgave him for his actions on her, so who the hell are you to punish him for what he did to her because you think its *right*? (You're advocating it, so I assume you'd be fine administering the punishment, if not; shut the hell up.)

He fled the law, he should be punished for that.

I'm passing judgment according to our country's laws, not according to my personal judgment. And yes, if I were in the position to pass said judgment, I would not hesitate to pass it.

I assume you're fine with it because you've been raped and forgiven someone for it. If not; shut the hell up.

I doubt O.J. has *anyones* trust in this point in his life, let alone any real close friends.

Don't buy this guys films, talk shit about him, whatever. If this guy is as deplorable as people imply(I agree, its sickening), I'd expect people to act accordingly.

His actions were deplorable, no shit. He should be socialy ostracized and comdemmed by his piers. However punishing him(For rape) after his victim has said "Its alright, I'm ok with him being free" is nothing short of stupidity and misguided hate. The only thing this guy should be pushed with at this point, is fleeing the law.
so he should be punished for avoiding going through something you don't think he should have to go through. FYI forgiving rapists is generally done for the benefit of the victim, not that of the rapist.

Punishing for the sake of punishment does what exactly? She forgave him.

apparently you missed what i said about the motivation for forgiving your attacker. Regardless her forgiving him is the exact reason the state or municipality has the authority to press charges for things when victims don't want to, it is seen as a crime not merely against the girl, but one against the community, or society. It is a moot point however seeing as there was a plea bargain he accepted, and entered a guilty plea. As far as i'm aware there is no such thing as a post conviction statute of limitations.

What kind of gray area bullshit is this? *Any* crime can be "seen" as a crime against the community or society.

How about punishment for the sake of raping a 13 year old?
She forgave him and dosen't give a fuck if he's walking around(For whatever reason).

Explain to me why your emotional reaction to what he did should hold any say over this guys life?

Being mean on the internet is against the "law" too.

I expect you to turn yourself in, I'll come with you and we'll both turn ourselves in.

Punishing someone for crimes committed against someone after their victim has forgiven / said "Be free" isn't caring, at least not in any logical or reasonable sense.

This "gray area bullshit" as you call it, is the law jackass...
    1. *Every* crime ever; is a "crime against society" if you look hard enough into it. Not just rape, not just murder. To make this huge distinction that rape is somehow unique in that it effects society as a whole is stupid and misleading.

    2. If the law is how you gauge what is right and wrong, then you're a fucking idiot.

Not for nothing, but if you're an older guy, and you drug, then anally rape a 13 year old girl Glenn Beck style, then don't you deserve to be taken off the street? Forgiven or not, you're a sick fuck that needs to be locked up. The fact that he dodged his court hearing by skipping the country also puts him in line for some jail time, on top of what he did to that girl.

But it's okay, because she forgives him. Apparently, all you have to do is tell somebody you forgive them in order for them to have learned their lesson, because everyone believes in the power of forgiveness!

I could tell the Muslim terrorists that I forgive them for 9/11, and you know what? They would still do it again and hurt innocent people.

Forgiveness does not go hand in hand with "you're free to go".

What does forgiveness have to do with it, anyway? It's a criminal case, not a civil one. In civil cases, forgive all you want. It's the defendant pressing charges. In criminal cases, the defendant has nothing to do with it. It's the state pressing charges.

Besides, even if you want to argue that criminal cases should be thrown out if the victim forgives the perp, what if the victim merely forgives because their religion says they must? Or they are otherwise intimidated or coerced into it, or are mentally unstable or immature? I can go commit virtually any crime I please against catholics or buddhists or a few other select religions because, more than likely, they'll forgive me. Or if I kidnap someone, I just have to make sure to keep them long enough for them to bond to me.

Did you just compare 911 to the rape of 1 person?

I thought so. Stop being stupid.

Thousands of people dying does not = 1 person being harmed.
