I would prefer to hold the 2 sharks, since I am a taru rdm/nin on it. 3x Aerial Collission kills me everytime. It would reduce me to taking only 1 aerial collision, which I think i can survive.

As far as SCH bind and grav'ing, I have no idea. I am pretty sure you can slow and paralyze them when they are being held, so i dont see why they wouldnt be able to. You might be able to have a SCH pull them off the PLD's with graviga.

Use tacos/phal/protect and macro in a PDT build for summons, even taru has no excuse to die to AF..

I cling to the holding method because I have a lot of PLDs in my LS.
I don't like having someone standing around doing nothing, so I am figuring a way to do this that will utilize as many people that my LS has.

It may not be as efficient as others would like, but I would have every single person feeling as though they contributed and did what they could to help.

It's tough to do and requires a lot of planning on my part.
But, I don't lead an LS based for the benefit to me, I like helping people.
To that end, I enjoy seeing people get equipment and not feeling useless at an event such as this.

Sure, it might be a bit more complicated.
But when we win, and my member gets a Novio/a earring...
Well, to me, there is no greater satisfaction.

So when other members look at that Novio/a earring,
they can feel like they were a big part in getting it.

Eh... I probably said too much.
(hides and waits for the flames to rise)
well, don't EXPECT an earring every kill, or you'll be disappointed. Polearm will sometimes be your ONLY drop.

    A couple tips:

    1. The most critical party, I FEEL for this fight is the BLM party on the outside handling adds. The pets when summoned can one shot your tanks pretty much if they aren't killed fast enough (when JOL uses 2 hour). If that happens, then its chaos as JOL will systematically kill everyone. I know a bunch of people have said "you only need 3 BLM's" but i'm guessing your players aren't super merited and have super gear YET, so i'd go with as many as 6-8 blm's in 2 parties, if you have the numbers, then decrease it from there until you find what works best for your LS.

    2. The range where your tanks should stand is pretty easy to find - just keep backing up until he can't melee attack you anymore, and he'll start casting spells. Its just outside the edge of the Yovra umbrella on JOL. (if you're into visual markings and don't use plugins for distance like me).

    3. At first, don't get discouraged if you don't see JOL's life dropping fast, his regen is crazy, so you just need to get through the 3 sets of Pets, then once the regen is off (sharks are only being summoned) then his life will drop fast.

    4. Make sure you're alliance understands to NOT mess with AV who will pop after JOL dies, he will kill you're whole alliance if someone does, then you have a mess with drops and getting people raised who should be lotting, etc.

After killing it a couple times, JOL becomes quite routine, kinda like Kirin. Hope you enjoy!

Willing to bet you can kill JoL with 5 Drks in about 30sec. given it does not charm them and start to rape the rest of the ally O.o.

Mini zerg to be safe(a drk might get charmed lol) takes about 10min if you have never ending drks to run in and SE one after the next.
I saw one linkshell try and out right zerg it KC drks got it to 51% before the drks got charmed. Still won but god it was funny^^ made things fun id say that. less then one min 40% dmg not bad, slowed em down took about 15min after that I think.

We killed it in 6m30s using the following setup:

    Tank PT

    Rng PT:
    RNG/WAR <- Relic Bow
    RNG/WAR <- Relic Bow
    RNG/WAR
    RNG/WAR
    BRD/WHM <- 2 hour songs
    COR/WHM

On a few other attempts we even eliminated the need for black mages. Rangers arrow burned the summons down after the backup tank pulled them. Most of the time JoL only summoned once or twice if I recall correctly.

The tanks held any hate in that set up? I'm assuming 2 Minuets, Chaos and Hunter's rolls.

A few times the rangers took hate and got blindga or an elemental-ga spell casted on them. The Corsairs and Bards would then Curaga2/blindna as needed. The relic rangers didn't take hate over the tanks as expected.

Hunter's Roll, Chaos Roll, Double Minuets.

But overall, the tank held decent hate (no idea why to be honest).

It's not too hard to hold hate as a good PLD/RDM (RDM need not be mentioned, it's obvious they could hold it quite well 2hr, etc) on JoL. Need to know what you're doing and never stop casting.

I dunno, I'm not sure what kind of damage RNG does against JoL let alone that buffed.

We used PLD/RDM. Towards the end rangers would start taking hate, but around that time the PLD's JA timers went back up I think.

I can pay extra attention next time we do it if you'd like.

Wow, I couldn't ask for a better "beginner guide" to JoL!
When I'm ready to show our jobs and pty setup, should I post it here?
If I do, I'm looking for constructive critisism, not "elitist" critisism.
    Remember, my shell isn't elite.
I value good, trustworthy people with only decent gear more than a snobby person with elite gear.

... but, if they have awesome gear and are an awesome person- AWESOME!
    :D

If I can, I'd like to minimize the amount of meleers.
Which means, RNG, SAM/RNG or COR.
I'm thinking 4BLMs can do it, they will just need a BRD for refresh and a COR for Magic Atk bonus.
To be "safe and easy", I'll have 1-2 BLMs in another pty to asisst when MP is low for 1-2 of the main BLMs.

So far, I have a 24-man setup for JoL.
I'm just trying to maximize people in their jobs/positions.

I don't think a SAM/RNG could do enough dmg, or hit enough even to be effective on JoL. SAM/WAR or /THF is a much better option, as they shouldn't need much babysitting.

SAM/RNG is a big no-no for JoL(and.. everything). Ranged-DD are useful for this particular mob, but don't go trying to turn every job into one.

oh dont get me wrong, MNK/DRK charging in to 2 hours definately pulls hate and is an MP sink. but ill be damned if its not fun to see lol.

No reason for MNK to SP, any BB MNK will get higher haste with just normal buffs.
