BRD should sing double mp, if you have space for a second, double march could help...but not really. (Assuming /RDM, your tank should know there is more to cast than flash.)

RDM has no need to enfeeble JoL
WHM's barspell merits are quite important here

Dont use rng/nin let them go /war or /sam. JoL shouldnt be meleeing them even if they grab hate.

    Really? O,O
    To what means?
I mean, what would JoL do if they get hate?
What distance is ideal for them and what should they do if they get hate?

They should be around 16~18 units of distance. (Around outside of the hood) Only going within 15? or whatever it is to weapon skill.

JoL would just cast Agas on them, not hard to deal with, couple of cures and you're good.

If they take hate on JoL they stop using barrage/sidewinder for a few. They shouldn't be using flashy shot (at all?) often.

Yeah, I agree with this. Infact some DMG on the rangers is not a bad thing, as it removes some level of CE off of them.

Well, I can't explain how much you (and the others that have posted) have helped me and my LS out.

I've explained to a few members (PLDs, WHMs and BLMs), the key positions they will hold and what they will be doing. I'm giving them a month to get the appropriate merits and gear, which I believe is reasonable.

WHMs- max merits in Bar spells and Shellra V, with helpful merits in Regen.
BLMs- max merits in Ice/Lightning Potency.
PLD- gear for Magic Defense and HP, with macros for /RDM.

I'll let you know when we face JoL and how it goes!
Then, maybe we can streamline it and go with fewer members!

First time or not, you're adding a month break for merits with 30 people at JoL? Seriously?

But yeah, guy, you're taking this way too seriously. JoL is a fucking easy, boring fight. The most "difficult" part is handling adds, and the only way you're going to have a problem there is if the people in your LS are utterly retarded, which I'd wager is probably not far from the truth. Just get a decent strategy together and pop the fucker.

To be honest, it's a scary step for me.
I have only done JoL once, with a different LS and BLMs nearly wiped.
I was in the add party, so I didn't notice or focus on what the main alliance was doing.

The majority of my members (say 75%) got sea access with help from my LS, so their experience in Sea is limited outside of our LS.

Thank being said, we wiped on our first Jailer of Hope and Justice, but haven't lost since. It might be over zealous, but like I said, I'm safer now than sorry later. If I go with 30 people this time and people see what we're doing, how the fight handles, how the pops are handled, how the distance works, I am positive that we can trim it down extremely quickly.

As I stated, we're not elite, we're not experienced, we're just a lot of friends that enjoy playing together. =)

I was the same way with my LS, I didn't want to try until I had some form of strategy down hardcore because the last thing I wanted to do was wipe to JOL and lose all that work...

Turns out JOL is a joke now, this setup takes him down in about 9-10 minutes.

This was our overkill setup if you are wondering. Keep in mind none of the players had any really amazing gear.

    main alliance:
    tank pt:
pld/drk (didn't have /rdm so we just made him come /drk)
    pld/rdm
    brd/whm (ballad x2)
    whm/sch (shellra5 max, 4/5 barspell merit)
    cor/whm (healing and pewpew)
    rdm/whm

    dd pt1:
    rng/war ebow
    rng/war ebow
    rng/war sbow
    rng/war hellfire+1
cor/blm (hunter + chaos rolls, ranged attacking and quickdrawing for damage, /blm for MAB)
brd/whm (dualboxed afk minuet 3+4 and random curaga)

    dd pt2:
    thf/war
    drg/sam

    blm alliance
    pt1:
    blm/rdm x5
whm/brd x1 (dualboxed afk ballad1 and raise3 on dead pplz)

    pt2:
    rdm/nin x1

    our strat:

pulled jol to the outer edge of his pop spot as per this pic:
    http://i58.photobucket.com/albums/g279/Amentis/JoL.jpg

instead of having tanks split, we had the 2 tanks sit on each other and rangers where offtanks are labeled on that picture.

tanks were decently geared, both had small set of mdb gear but nothing too amazing. neither had full set of iron ram gear or specific HP+ gear.

our rangers all had ebow or hellfire+1 or othinus bow or selene's bow. It's not too important so long as they just pew pew the shit out of jol. rangers just started attacking from the start, no waiting for pops

thf and drg have max feint and angon merits, i suspect this helped a bit so i'm mentioning it

rdm/nin keeps buffs up (stoneskin/utsu) and pulls pets with diaga asap and stands at a safe spot where astral flow won't rape anyone but the rdm (note: this is important)

blm x5 is more than enough to kill adds, just have to make sure they aren't AFK and that they have their buffs up because it's a really god damned boring fight for blm -- basically the blms should -ga3 asap, even if the rdm/nin hasn't pulled off the tanks.

during one of our jol fights, the brd in the rng party did soulvoice minuets...
we killed that jol in 6 minutes with 4 rangers, 2 corsairs, thf, drg and a sam!

If you're posting here asking how to kill Jailer of Love then maybe your tanks aren't all that and three bags of chips?

I can't seriously think of a single situation where Minne is useful for pld tbh :\

However, i've joined Yote's shell cause he's an old friend of mine and he accepted me D:! They do good and most of them are pretty smart people just new to sea. i have a feeling we'll do fine in time.

and im happy this thread was created by him cause i can guarantee no one would listen to me if i tried to tell them the strategy in LS chat >.>

I'm sorry bud, I had so many questions and the people here helped a lot.
I don't like asking a lot of questions in the LS, especially to new people, because I don't want them thinking I don't know anything about JoL.

I don't mind you knowing, because you know the LS. You've seen the potential we have. We just need the confidence and to hone our skills a bit.

The more information I get on JoL, the better feeling I have for it.

Not to be an asshole but there's not going to be a lot of skills getting honed with 30 people at JoL. People in this game (well maybe on these forums) prefer to smallman events for a reason. The less people you take, the less people can lazy it up, the more they learn (even in the event of a wipe) and the better players they become. At some point small-manning was something being done in this game for the sake of reputation, e-peen, or something else; but after a point I'd like to think people realized that with the resources, information, and gear available there is little point to any event with that many people. Point being, doing JoL with 30 people because you happened to have that many show up is one thing, but -planning- a JoL with 30 people and still hesitating sounds a bit much to me. Do your ls a favor and teach them to lowman.

My LS is pretty weak and probably can't even beat an NQ fafnir with 18 people as they don't have HNM experience, but even they can defeat JOL with only 18 people. 14 ppl on JOL and 4 blms.
Takes 1 hour and 20 mins about but he is extremely easy. You got 30 ppl, you would never wipe ever. The hardest part was the pets really. 2 blm d/c once and we wiped on pets, but we have DDs kills pets for awhile. Yes the DDs die alot on the pets but they recover easily because it only takes 2 tanks to endlessly hold JOL.
30 ppl is ridiculous as kirin is even harder then JOL and with 30 ppl you can kill kirin without zerging pretty fast. 30 to JOL is overkill.
