i only used the rivet gun for the point between the first and second shop during my first playthrough, i didnt see the rivet bolts being sold at the second shop so i immediately thought it was a 16 use and done, kind of gun.

wouldve used it the entire game if it had infinite ammo like in extraction lol

yea the rivet gun was amazing in extraction, even though it was your infinite/default weapon it was like... the best weapon in the game. In DS2 it's totally different and kinda sucks, mostly because you already have weapons with pin-point precision (javelin, seeker rifle). Honestly i still don't even know what the alt fire for it does, "discharges embedded rivets" doesn't really seem to happen when I pull the alt-fire trigger, just some ricocheting rivet with no accuracy. I think if they were going to bring over a weapon from extraction they should have stuck with the arc welder.

I think of the new weapons, the seeker rifle is my favorite, partially because you get SOOOO much ammo for it when you have it equipped. I think on my farming playthrough I'm just going to carry it all the time, along with the contact beam since that ammo sells for a ton.

Does anyone know if you get circuitboards from brutes every time you kill them with their own projectiles (after you cut off an arm)?

Also the line gun mine needs to be able to be immediately detonated

Shoot the rivets into an enemy. Use secondary fire to have the rivets inside the necromorph "explode". It still sucks though. doesn't do nearly enough damage even with its secondary function.

I haven't paid too much attention, but I'm pretty sure I've gotten those boards off of every brute and I always kill each one the exact same way, stasis > zoomed seeker

i use the alt fire on almost any gun to kill brutes, a fully upgraded javelin gun will spear a leg completely off, and the alt activation will sever every limb, same with line gun alt fire and like callisto said, zoomed seeker

the only times i havent gotten a circuitboard were my 2nd and 3rd playthroughs, i'd get a stasis pack or something cheap, not a ruby or diamond board. but thats only been like twice

I'm about half way through chapter four and I was curious if I set my lighting too low or if it's normal to not be able to see most of anything in the game. (aside from the well lit rooms/sections of rooms)
I know it's supposed to be a horror game, but darkness everywhere all the time is getting to be just more of an annoyance than scary. I occasionally have to take blind shots at an enemy because I can't make out where his limbs are, or I have to resort to flailing around blindly with the melee button.

To an extend it should be like that in some areas, there's several times where you shouldn't be able to see the mob without your aiming light pointed at them. I have a crappy TV that typically runs on the darker side myself so I put I have to put game brightness up just a tad, but it should still be pretty dark.

Currently doing my Zealot playthrough now...has anyone else given thought to the 'where to use my 3 saves' question for Hardcore?

Also, I hope in the future of this franchise(I'm assuming there's at least one more coming based on a couple of loose story ends) I hope they add some sort of L4D-esque random-spawning system for the enemies. The AI is pretty solid in this one where they'll occasionally hop into a vent then out of a different one behind you and such, but it'd be nice if the harder modes included stuff like slight randomization of where actual encounters happen and how many mobs came, instead of just making mobs take and do more damage.

Worst part so far was in chapter 2 I think.
    Spoiler: show
The room with the thumping washing machine. I died about 4 times because I kept getting attacked by enemies I couldnt see, which I found out was 2 of those necros with no legs.

Tough to say really, that part specifically is supposed to be dark as fuck(power went out, etc), stasis spam helps light things up a little.

Yeah, I just hit that point myself on a playthrough, and I couldn't see a damn thing unless I was aiming at it, I'd say it's just supposed to be like that.

did they do away with level 1, 2, 3 etc suit schematics?
I'm near the end(I think) of chapter 6 and the only new suit schematic i've found is that blue force suit.

There appear to be 2 levels of a few suits, the normal suit and the Elite version. You don't start finding Elite schematics til you've beaten the game for the first time.

I keep mixing up the Contact Beam and Force Beam ammo, I'll pull one gun out of storage but grab ammo for the other and not realize til I'm in the middle of a fight with no ammo

What're people's favorite guns after a playthrough or three? I have most of them maxed so far, but I find myself going back to a Line Gun/Pulse Rifle/Seeker Rifle/Plasma Cutter setup for tough parts, though for the last little bit I've been using Force Gun instead of the Pulse Rifle since it's nice when you get rushed.

specific guns for specific situations, detonator for any stalker areas, force gun for certain tormentor areas, plasma cutter for packs, and anything that has a wide area of fire for everything else, line gun is usually my go-to gun

also every "gauntlet" type area is where im planning on using my saves for hardcore, i just cant decide whether to do it before or after

    Spoiler: show
the entrance to the train hub, the second time around, would probably be the first save, then the 3 descending floors in chapter uhh...14 or 13, and final area save

I was honestly debating just doing 5/10/15. There aren't many actual fights that I think I'll die to since I tend to keep a lot of health/stasis on me, but there's some shit that worries me, like in Chapter 9 there's a room with one of the windows that you shoot out and decompress the room, but the room is tiny and I don't have a ton of luck shooting the switch in time. I may just stasis the shit out of the enemies and make sure to shoot away from the window in hardcore.

thats like one of the easiest rooms to get through, you have a stasis recharge station like right there

as for everything else i intend on using kinesis as much as possible, and never meleeing if i can help it, i just need to find the right weapon that'll dismember a blackskin slasher in one shot so i can use their arms

also, have you tried seeing if you can disarm the detonator mines that are placed throughout the game if you have the gun with you? because free ammo is free ammo, plus that would solve your dilemma in that particular room

it seems like fully upgraded the javelin gun is probably one of the best. I definitely feel like they rebalanced the plasma cutter for DS2, either that or its usefulness is somewhat diminished considering how often you have enemies coming at you from all directions and need something better for crowd control

edit: and yea Force Gun is the fucking bomb, I like to just sit in the corner and wait for shit to come to me and blast it all away lol

There's no stasis thing in that room, you're thinking of the one in the church, I mean the one in the factory.

I already use kinesis as much as possible early on when it's 1-shot kills, though mid-to-late you don't have to avoid meleeing if it's a single mob, I'll sometimes stasis them and beat them to death before it wears off, works for most stuff outside of black pukers.

And I won't get close enough to the pre-planted mines to test b/c I blew myself up last time I made an attempt lol

Fully upgraded Contact Beam is really nice too for the stasis affect on the alt-fire, the damage is a little low but you can spam the crap out of it.
