i've decided im gonna split the saves into quarters, chapters 4, 8 and 12, the final save is gonna be useless in terms of utility, and the difference in rising difficulty between 10 and 12 is p. big
i just have to fucking reach chapter 4, lol
because im such a puss i decided to do a zealot playthrough again but as minimalistic as possible, so far ive only shot off something like 50-60 plasma cutter rounds, 10 for the first boss, and 1-2 per necro all the way to ch. 5, using their own blades alot, im getting really good with my accuracy because of it
when i can stand to wait through the intro of the game again is when ill try hc, i really want that fucking foam finger lol
Ammo gets really fucking scarce in 5-7, I've had to work a bit at re-training myself on how I kill normal mobs, instead of my normal stasis > leg > arm I've had to get myself into stasis > arm > kinesis throw the arm to finish them to save ammo. The crawly guys that are just two arms + tail are fucking brutal, they take a ton to kill if you don't get the arms and they keep dodgeing my stasis throws, lol. Health isn't too rare, but ammo is a bitch atm and you can't just buy more since you don't run into all of the needed schematics early on.
died to ch6 raptor fight twice, first time they suckered me, I put mines forward and they came from the right which I've never seen me do, 2nd time one of them just flat out side-stepped my mine as it ran towards me
After a bit more trial and error I think I've come up with the my 2nd save point, though tbh it'd be nice if I could've just made it all the way through to use it as my first.
Near the end of Chapter 7 before you take the elevator where you keep getting attacked by tripods. I tried to just stock up on health/ammo but they hit too damn hard and not having a maxed contact gun available makes the fight much harder. The next hardest fight that I can think of for awhile is when you're waiting for Ellie to open the door to the factory and have to hold off the waves of shit coming, but that's not even so bad and things are pretty smooth between there and Chapter 11.
i got too impatient with how poorly i played the end of chapter 2, so i wasted my first save beforehand, i might use that save point as well, if i ever fucking make it that far, i keep trying to use kinesis to kill everything, without using any ammo whatsoever if i can help it, and it works, up until the point where i cant kill necros fast enough and one just bitch slaps me, its alot like resident evil 5, in that 1 hit will take you to that last sliver of health, fucking sucks lol
"God damn, how'd I get all this ammo? They keep giving me so much I might have to start throwing it away. Wonder why the game suddenly gave out so much of it..."

"oh, ok. That's why. At least I have enough spare ammo to last me awhile now"

Okay so I beat it today finally. It took me like 10 hours. I could have probably beat it in one sitting, but I didn't want to. Spoilers and stuff below.
Okay, so I loved this game. It was definitely amazing from a production standpoint. Graphics, changes to gameplay and everything. The story kinda failed to get me though. Don't get me wrong. I liked it and everything. I was just waiting the whole game to see some huge twist or something that changed everything we knew. I felt that never came. I don't think it really took anything away from it, but... I dunno. It was fantastic though going back to the Ishimura. I thought that was awesome. It was recovered and being reconstructed and studied. Yeah it was Issac who helped build it unwillingly. Yeah he destroyed it. All cool stuff, but nothing made me really drop my jaw and say "Oh wow" I knew there was gonna be some kinda post ending thing. It's the popular thing to do nowadays.
I also don't think it was trying to have this huge revalation. I think it was really Issac coming to terms with everything which I though was really good. They went from literally no character to a really likeable kinda guy. Makes me wonder why they gave him no voice in the original. I was honestly expecting Ellie to die, but am glad she survived. She makes for a good companion. Kicks all kind of ass.
I also felt at the end with the endless waves of enemies was more annoying than hard. They were just there to impede your progress and annoying the shit out of you. They certainly did their job there. The Nemesis-esque creatures in the end really got on my nerves. I guess that's the whole point though.
Not hating on it at all. Just expected a little more I guess. Visceral continues to show they definitely have what it takes to compete. Single player 9/10. Have yet to try the multi
Any particular preferences on your hardcore savepoints? I'm about to dump my 2nd one at the end of ch7 but going 7-14 with no save is going to be interesting
I only used two, the start of chapter 8 and near the start of 14, on my hardcore palythrough i didnt have much of a problem with ammo, I normally poped a limb and killed them with it via kinesis, conserves so much ammo. I use Plasma cutter, line gun, contact beam(for the ammo money etc) and pulse rifle.
EA has paid me to play Dead Space all day friday and today, I was at the office and just played all day, was a great day.
re-posting from a different thread, but I found a really minor bug that can help you save a tiny bit of ammo/health(assuming you don't fuck up the execution like I do in the video). Really small deal, but every bit helps in Hardcore.

Basically run out in the room to spawn the mobs, stasis them and run back into the narrow room. Wait there til they jump into the vents, they'll eventually try to jump out of the vent in the narrow room, as they try to jump out for some reason they just glitch and disappear. Go back to big room, hack the panel, repeat the hide-and-seek bit, then head out once the next batch disappears. Both spawns before and after the panel hacking are actually supposed to have 2 sets of 2 mobs, but it seems if you glitch them the second wave doesn't come in either instance.
bastard, im at chapter 10 with 0 saves left...i wont bother explaining, im sure you know, lol i just died in the latter half of the stage to a bunch of the scorpion-whatever necro's, i ran low on health and i made some bad decisions on what to stasis...etc etc
its gonna take me awhile to get this done, sucks you beat me to it, fingerbang those necros for me, fingerbang them hard

fwiw I ended up doing my saves at start of 5, the near-end of 7(before the tripod elevator), and the end of 11(other elevator). Also Zealot Suit/Force Gun from the pre-order are fucking clutch in Hardcore.
