Kind of annoyed how we didn't really learn anything new about the Marker.

Maybe you missed some logs? There was some stuff in there about the black marker, and one of them pointed out
    Spoiler: show
there's as many as 12 Markers

Still no clue wtf Convergence actually details though

Also, doing a Hand Cannon Zealot speed run, and holy lol I think I may do it in under 3 hours

I didn't see that as new info though.
    Spoiler: show
Already assumed there were more than a couple since the first game, when they called that marker Marker 3A.
I was talking more along the lines of what created it and what its purpose is and what it'll lead to.

    Spoiler: show
They hit on the what, just not the why as much. There's only a few things of actual new info I guess: one of the logs is a scientist saying that he believes they didn't even create the giant Marker because they wanted the power, it was because the black Marker/red Marker shards were making them create it. It more or less exists to get people to create more Markers, then each marker tries to gather organic matter to trigger Convergence. The Markers send out a telepathic signal which basically tells other creatures how to create more markers. Another log says average people are driven insane and kill others/themselves, but people with higher cognitive abilities(see: engineers, scientists) are able to keep a fair amount of their sanity and interpret the code that the Marker sends out, which typically is to make more Markers.

Then the rest is from DS1 mostly, where the exception being the Red Marker, whose code more or less just tried to get people to return it to Aegis VII so that it could keep the Hive Mind in check, as it created the Dead Space field that keeps necromorphs from spreading. There is a big discrepancy between DS1 and DS: Aftermath though, as Aftermath shows the Red Marker shard reanimating the dead humans into necromorphs, where DS1 shows it warding off the spread. The Black Marker appears to create and spread necromorphs, the going theory on the Red Marker doing the opposite is just that it was an imperfect copy since they had to use the red material instead of whatever the black one is made of.

The short story is that Markers appear to be sentient, and exert their will on other beings. Different Markers may potentially have different agendas/do slightly different things, but so far all of them at the very least drive people to create more Markers.

    ok so....

    Spoiler: show
In the future, mankind has unlocked travel to the stars by learning to control the forces of gravitation. A horrific event left Isaac Clarke floating lifeless in space... but eventually he wakes up in a medical facility after 3 years of being studied, poked, and prodded only to discover things have gone to hell and he has to follow the voice of a mysterious woman even though he doesn't entirely trust her. Eventually he gets wrapped up in a plot to save mankind from the sinister designs of pseudo-organic ancient aliens who reproduce in a rather gruesome and grotesque fashion.

Ok now replace Isaac Clarke with John Shepard...

Just beat the game last night and hooooooly shit...

    Spoiler: show
My friend was watching and flipped shit when I had to put a needle in Isaac's eye. Did anyone else fuck it up once just to see the gruesome death that followed?

Also, how exactly was Tiedmann(sp?) connected to all of this? I kinda missed out on some earlier conversations because my roommate was on the phone a lot... I basically thought the entire game he was trying to stop Isaac from reaching it because he was afraid Isaac would replicate it, which isn't true because he didn't want me to destroy it.

    Spoiler: show
Tiedemann(and the people he work for) used Isaac and Stross to build the giant Marker, so that they could try to find a way to harness its powers(or alternatively they did it just because they were under the influence of the Black Marker which was telling them to do it). He knew that those two were the only ones who could potentially destroy the Marker, which is why he was trying to kill them.

It's like a shotgun, wide radius in front of you but the damage tapers off sharply as distance from the target increases. It's best used when you're pretty much touching the enemy, it does a fuck ton of damage point-blank and if it doesn't kill them, it'll knock them back to buy you some time and space. I gotta admit I probably would not have been able to beat the hardcore mode if it weren't for the Zealot Force Gun/Suit that came with the CE, the gun's ballers.

did you play it with a Move? It's a lightgun game, if you have a Move (or a wii) it's fantastic, and the story is really really good, but playing with a plain controller is like playing time crisis or any of those games with an analog stick

I'm stuck with a normal controller, I'm playing it for the story, but using a controller it's fucking terrible. Its perception of what is a hit or not does not agree with the aiming reticule whatsoever...fighting a boss with 4 health pickups in its room, if you die you restart the whole boss over with half health...and none of the health pickups respawn. I tossed an explosive barrel that literally went directly through the target as if it wasn't there.

Yep. I died once on the boss and it appears I'm going to have to do the entire chapter over to get a legitimate second chance at beating it.
