i certainly hope not, it takes a very long time to translate all the text on the walls whenever there is text, my reading comprehension of the game's alphabet may be p. high now but i cant read it like the articles in a playboy.

was looking for the alphabet to decipher the dead space language when I found out that apparently it's already been solved and putting in the code gets you 5 nodes
Spoiler: show
edit: this might be for dead space 1? I'm confuseded
yeah, the article was written in 2008, but it uses the same exact picture as the one shown in this thread.

oh just 5 nodes? that's kinda anticlimactic lol
the 5 node code is from the first dead space I'm pretty sure.
Though it was the same exact puzzle solver thing.
more googling led to this thread.

no, there is definitely a code in DS2, 6 glowing green blocks of text with arrow codes in chapter 6
also the code you posted doesnt work
edit: and yea I've seen that thread on gamefaqs, but it's wrong. The guy listing codes has listed them incorrectly, since they all come in groups of 4 and not 2
i did another playthrough, either i stopped giving a fuck or i just couldnt see any arrows anymore hidden throughout the game after chapter 6, i wish i could take screenshots of the sets ive found so everyone knew what kind of detail to scale ive been looking at
alternatively, i found titties in chapters 2, 4 and 6, and in the ending credits the people who are credited get a little line of flavor text and im reading them, one of them says "it took ds1/2 but i finally have a girlfriend"
Ok I'm about to start this game - Never played DS1, anything I should know or aim for, or websites I should look at? i.e. specs/weapons whatever to use.
uh... not to sound like a dick but don't you have a way of playing DS1 first? There's a video recap but you're really doing yourself a disservice not playing the first game
what Atreides said, DS1 was great. As far as tips, the game will mention it, but go for limbs. To conserve ammo, I shoot their leg then stomp. As far as weapons... I love the line gun but have a tendency to use the cutter. idk what others strategies are as far as upgrading, but I've always done my rig first then the cutter.
The gun/s you use depends on the difficulty honestly, if you're just playing on casual/normal you can try out all of the guns and see what you like since ammo is easy to find. But on Zealot or hardcore only use the cutter because you will only find ammo for it.
Aside from that, play the first game it's incredible. If you sit down and play it even just through on easy, you'll get it done in a day. And also everything Tonx said, shoot limbs until they die or shoot off the legs and stomp them to conserve ammo.
I was hoping to avoid spending the 20$, maybe I'll wait for a steam sale or something and then grab both.
If you're ok with console versions I got the first one used at gamestop for like $15, potentially the best $15 I've ever spent
as for weapons, the force gun really eclipses the plasma cutter towards the 2nd half of the game on the harder difficulties. As for upgrades, I would recommend focusing on your plasma cutter (damage and capacity) and Rig (HP, can probably skip dmg right away) and Stasis, then start upgrading the force gun as you get closer to Chapter 10. A lot of people like the Line Gun for crowd control, I much prefer the force gun but the Line Gun's alt fire is fantastic for the wall dudes and the final boss.
The weapons you carry dictate (most of the time) what ammo drops, so an easy way to make money is to buy the contact beam and sell the ammo you find for it, although it's a great weapon to use for the final boss so I'd save a stack of ammo in your safe. Ripper blades are probably worth the 2nd most.
Remember to search everywhere, smash everything that glows, and keep a lookout for items that you can only grab with kinesis. Most ATMs/Vending Machines are already smashed but remember to break them if you see those too, since a few have credits inside. On the Ishimura, you can open any container with a white light.
OH and don't blow all your power nodes upgrading every time you see a bench. Always keep 1 node with you at all times to open power lock doors, some of them even have replacement nodes inside in DS2.
Most of this to a T. DS1 the force gun isn't as hot, but in DS2 it's potentially the most useful gun in the game. If I'm in farm-ish/kinda casual mode I go with plasma cutter/force gun/pulse rifle then keep the contact beam on me to sell its ammo, if I'm playing for keeps it's plasma/line gun/force gun/seeker rifle.
For DS1 the standards usually hold up to be the best, Plasma Cutter/Line Gun will get you through almost the entire game by themselves, then Force Gun just to buy some space if you get in a pinch.
Also for DS2, try to use kinesis as a weapon as much as possible. Anything that is long and thin can usually be thrown as a piercing weapon(metal rods, mobs, vice grips, etc.) as can enemy claws. For killing strategy either shoot out the leg then stomp/shoot arm, or shoot the arm first then grab the claw from the severed arm and throw it into their chest. Early on when enemies are weaker, if you're near a stasis recharge station you can just stasis the enemies and melee them to death. Melee in DS2 is much, much stronger than in DS1, DS1 it's just kind of a last-ditch thing to buy yourself space.
Callisto touched on what I was going to recommend, if you're good enough a shot and can pop arms and uses them as weapons, do so, saves tons of ammo on the harder settings. Slasher and lurker claws being the strongest to use.
Don't forget mops. Mops wreck shit, lol.
Incidentally, not so much in DS1...
thinking about taking a run at hardcore. i know a few of you guys talked about save points, but after having completed the game, which ones would you guys recommend?
also in the RE series i used to be pretty pro at running past zombies to save ammo, but in this game there either aren't too many opportunities to do that or i just miss them. there was the one part at the end where i just said screw it and ran to tildemann, but other than that any other spots i can use in HC?
