maybe they won't become clipper fans, but a ton of "laker fans" disappear in bad times. LA is a maddeningly blase sports town. if the lakers aren't winning, quite a few fans just go on as if basketball doesn't even exist.

almost all my friends/relatives are laker fans and i can count on one hand who is really die hard. it's part of why i can't stand most fans, because sooooooo many just show up for the "status" of being affiliated with a winner.

the number of people that come to games late, text on their phones for a couple quarters, then leave early is incredible.

Pretty much why the Staples center is always quiet as hell.

Alot of morons go there just to be seen or talk business and shush people who want to cheer.

The crowd today surprised me though, you couldn't hear the announcers on some occasions.

For the most part, yeah. It's usually smarter to just slither into take-a-charge position when the calls are 50/50 anyways, while if you make contact going for a block the call usually goes against you. I would hate on Kobe for that obvious block that was called a charge in game 5 on a fast break but hey, if the refs are going to miss that call it is smart strategy.
