any good tools to do this? i've tried using "Any Video Converter" without much sucess, i can get the file to convert but the quality is complete shit going from 720p

Having trouble finding the download link on their page. The download and use link seems to only tell how to use it, the link to the download isn't obvious to me, or is being hidden by NoScript, though I've allowed the site to not be blocked. The only download link I see is in the ad banner for AVS4You.

Got help in a chat. NoScript was blocking something, and it looked like it was Google-generated so I assumed an ad banner.

Love that their help is screenshots of what the page is supposed to look like, instead of them just having a static list of mirrors to choose from or anything obvious, since you'd want to download BEFORE reading the guide on how to use the thing.

That's how they make money. You just scroll to the bottom of the first page, click on the "Start Downloading SUPER" link, then click on the "Download and use" link on the second page, then scroll to the bottom. If you have NoScript on, unblock the bottom object (the biggest of the three that appear.)

MKV to AVI or MPG?
Actually you just need a MKV Converter.
According to my own experience using a MKV converter, I find that Pavtube MKV Converter is the best one. It can convert MKV to any video formats as we wish. I hope it works for you guys~

i tried handbrake over night and got a really nice version 1gig down from 6gigs but the audio is missing ((( maybe i didnt set it up right or something

Why not have a try about Pavtube MKV Converter? It can convert MKV to many other media formats including AVI and MPG. In addition, it allows users adjusting video and audio parameters like bit rate, frame rate, sample rate, aspect ratio, etc. so that you can make control of the output file size as well as the video quality.

Just a FYI but the PS3 does not support non-square pixels in its video playback. It seems like a lot of Japanese shows (including anime) ends up being encoded with non-square pixels and, even though it's in a AVI or MPG format, will not play. I've also found MKV>AVI/MPG transfers difficult to get subtitles to link over properly.

I don't have any problem playing anime on my ps3, but I'm a) watching fansubs that have been remastered into avi, and b) using tversity to make sure they play in a native ps3 format...so it may be converting these things to work properly or something.
