is the computer upstairs running xbmc (ie an htpc) ?

If so, just setup windows shares on the other PC and then on xbmc add a source and choose SMB and just navigate to your pc and the shared folder.

make sure the folder has Everyone:Read access.

If your using XBMC as the SHARER, your doing it wrong
Run XBMC on the PC beside the TV and just access your media with it.

Sorry i meant to post this earlier but i was out at michigan vs michigan state football game >_> I got everything to share correctly but the thing that grabs the info for the movies missed almost 3/4 of them. The movies are named exactly like they are on the box. Is there any way to fix this instead of going through and manually doing it?
