CHENNAI, India - Geologists have found a cluster of fossilized dinosaur eggs, said to be about 65 million years old, in a village in the southern Indian state of Tamil Nadu, according to media reports."We found layer upon layer of spherical eggs and body parts of dinosaur and each cluster contained eight eggs," M. Ramkumar, a geologist at Periyar University who led a survey team, said Thursday, according to The Hindu newspaper.
The eggs, about 5-8 inches in diameter and lying in sandy nests about 4 feet wide, were discovered during a study funded by Indian and German scientific institutions.

The clusters were under ash from volcanic eruptions on the Deccan plateau, which geologists said could have caused the dinosaurs to become extinct.
The nesting site was found along the banks and bottom of streams in the Cauvery river basin, containing clusters of fossilized eggs, dung and bone remains of dinosaurs.
"Occurrences of unhatched eggs in large numbers at different stratigraphic levels indicate that the dinosaurs kept returning to the same site for nesting," Anbarasu, another survey team member, said.
The researchers have requested local officials to cordon off the site since a similar discovery in northern India led to a plunder of the fossils.

This is the first time i've ever heard of unbroken or unhatched eggs being found. Seems like they're in good condition too. Hoping we hear more about them once they're moved to a lab or whatnot. Jurassic Park on the way?

I just don't get why people are still into dinosaurs its like saying hey I bet if we found a frozen caveman we could bring him back to life. Just because we can do something doesn't mean we should do it.

Also can you please go into a little more depth about the "I just don't get why people are still into dinosaurs" comment? Because I doubt you can be that fucking stupid. Tell me how finding fossils of eggs or of the actual extinct Dinosaur a bad thing? I mean other then adding another notch into the scientific belt? Defend your stance in 3..2....

I find it funny that people feel like anything related to dinosaurs is important.Tell me why you think that finding more about dinosaurs is important ? You think we are really going to pull of a "Jurassic Park" ? What does finding more dinosaurs eggs prove ? We already knew they existed so finding an egg is just another distraction from far more important "present day problems" like war economy etc. No I would not care if we found a "gold floating box". Finding a dinosaur egg to me is not a big deal.
