Q6: Will there be a cooldown timer or anything that limits how often we can change class?
A: There is no real concept of static "classes" in the traditional sense. Rather, there may be somewhat of a restriction placed on the changing of weapons or tools mid-combat.
wonder what exactly they are thinking about with that :/
OH MAN, I CANT WAIT.A: This has not been decided at this time. But it's safe to say that players can expect to see a completely new and revolutionary system.
But seriously, why developer have to be like this in interview. It's much more refreshing when they actually show some realism and humility toward the game.
Oh good now people won't be pigeonholed into a job. Seriously, tarutaru had the worst stats OF ALL TIME! ALL TIME! What still baffles me to this very day is how tarus, a race meant for mages, had such low MND. I just don't get it. I think they only excelled in MP and INT and the rest was mid to low tier, can't remember. Also, the fact that taru mages run around with 500/2000mp and gets one shotted the second they pull hate, extreme example but whatever.Q3: Will the races hold the same benefits as they did previously in FFXI, or will the stat bonuses be different and play a larger role? In addition, will faction choice play a bigger role? In FFXI we had separate mission lines and friendly competitions such as ballista. Will we see something similar or something dramatically different than FFXI system for different factions?
A: The bonuses among races will be of a different variety than those seen in FFXI. But players need not be concerned with this when choosing a race based on aesthetics.
There is also an element of freedom in that players will not pledge their allegiance to a single city-state. This means that the guildleves or skills available will differ region to region, which all being accessible. Of course, this applies quests as well.
Let's hope this guild system has more than just a list of members and one line greet text-_-Q2: How will player run guild/linkshells work? What features can we expect and what benefits can a guild/linkshell get through progression if any?
A: For the time being, we are still keeping this information secret. But, we are very adamant about creating an entirely novel system.
New and revolutionary is really broad and really vague. It also leaves way too much room for wishful thinking. WoW was new and revolutionary when it came out (in the sense they applied new concepts to existing ideas). Here i think they are just going to make a new combat system similar to what they do with every FF game.Q8: Limit Breaks were powerful combat moves featured in several Final Fantasy titles. In FFXI we saw Weapon Skills and Magic Burst. Do you have any plans to include a similar system in FFXIV?
A: This has not been decided at this time. But it's safe to say that players can expect to see a completely new and revolutionary system.
Absolutely loved skillchains in FFXI. Absolutely hated how every class (included blms and smns) were supposed to be expected to use them with relics and such. Really hope they pull it off good, every mmo has the potential to be great but usually messes up something major to turn off over half the players sometime after release.
Sounds like guildleves and quests are two different things. Thank God. Hopefully missions will be a 3rd.There is also an element of freedom in that players will not pledge their allegiance to a single city-state. This means that the guildleves or skills available will differ region to region, which all being accessible. Of course, this applies quests as well.
All makes me think 2Q 2011.
That's pretty interesting... they have the models for them finished, but don't know what to do with them. lolQ9: Are there any plans to add female Roegadyn and male Miqo'te?
A: Well, the character model designs are finished... But further details regarding their implementation have yet to be decided.
I guess it's a safe bet to say they might release them later, perhaps in this new article we're going to see soon.
I agree this is the best part of this interview. at the very least it confirms, with no room for doubt, that this worlds lore is diferant than ffxi's. Else why even design a female galka?
it is too bad that they are considering using them for other reasons than player characters...
Female galkas....obviously they will be bastok's new whores
you never know, judging from what they did to galka... the female version could be stacked!
get it? see what i did there? ...i want cake
Hopefully they do make them playable by release. Back when I first played XI I wanted to be a mithra, but didn't want to be a female and put up with people flirting with me.
I do hope they do add Artifact quests again, or something similar since even if most AF sucked it was nice to wear it around town. And HQ PLD AF = /drool.
House question was interesting. I am hoping if they add a house system it'll be similar to Animal Crossing's. If you didn't play the game long story short you started out in a crappy house but could later expand it's size, then add a basement, upper floor, etc. You could also interact with your furnishings like turning lamps on/off, sit/lay down on beds/chairs, etc.
I am hoping they don't make XIV too "hardcore" like they did XI. I like difficult fights and all but SE crossed the lines a few times with 21+ hour pops and mobs like AV/PW IMO.
I like the idea of being able to upgrade your house and actually be able to lay on the bed instead of it just sitting there and you saying damn that looks comfy.
I could not care less about what the hell the house is like.
The only part that made me sad was how there were still going to be mobs that drop good items that are Rare/Ex. Well, they didn't say they were going to be good but at least some of them have to be.
Here is the problem. I've been camping KA for a little while and this is not an exaggeration: Everyone there already has a V. Belt and is just there selling it. The only people who didn't have one were my friend and I who are trying to get one.
This sucks because the people there are trying to sell this awesome belt for 12 mil+ and this is where the problem starts. When you can camp and sell an item for so much it obviously turns into who can claim the beast. This in turn leads to botting. Which just breaks down the whole system and turns it into a contest of who has the best bot which is just stupid.
I'm ok with mobs dropping decent gear with fast spawns like Leaping Lizzy and the Valkrum Emperor. These spawn so often and the items aren't gamebreaking so they aren't botted and sold for a lot.
I dunno, I guess I'm just saying what everyone else has been saying forever. 21-24 hour spawns with mobs that drop endgame gear are fucking stupid and should go die in a fire.
So I'm OK with mobs that drop R/Ex gear, just not gamebreaking endgame gear and no 21-24 hour spawns. All endgame gear should come from events and not world mobs. Duh.
Oh and about the house thing, hell yeah I want a real house. The MH is lame beyond words. Hey guys come look at my 10'x10' room filled with bahuts and a spinning moogle! Having storage was probably one of the worst ideas ever. Having a small square boring room was the next horrible idea. Animal Crossing style shit ftw!
Don't flame me for bringing up 21-24 hour world spawns. I know it's a dead horse topic. It was just sad seeing them mention something that might turn into it and it made me dissapointed.
