Yeah, I agree. The problem is the Hip-Hop formula is easy to replicate.

1. Steal Hook
2. Get established voices to rap a verse and/or the chorus
3. Release singles every 3 months, independant of albums
4. Bank on image

Get bitches, make money, avoid Southpark reference. It's not that hard to do, relatively speaking. No one cares about substance. God bless pop music.

I don't really think hip hop has changed, but rather pop music has tried to emulate real hip hop (and does a terrible job of it).
