It was in the thread movies that are good enough to entitle their own separate thread(no I'm not being sarcastic that actually was the title.) I loved the old version so just out of loyalty to that I'll be checking it out. Unless it is an absolutely horrid remake. But come on, how could you fuck this story up?

Here's the link. There's a bunch of really hit or miss films listed in it.

Not with Liam Neeson as motherfucking Zeus.
Also, some interesting cast connections... Neeson/Fiennes both in Schindler's List... and bond villain/new bond girl

I could see Shia Ledouche as Zeus with an Optimus Prime voice.

This movie has a high probability of failing just because Ray Harryhausen kicks butt and the original is such a classic.

The pics make it seem like the movie is taking itself way too seriously.

I don't know about you but Clash of the Titans took me to another planet as a kid, laughable ( now ) special effects aside Clash was a pretty intense story with some pretty intense themes and scenes.

I'm not sure what you mean by "taking itself too seriously," other than to think it a compliment as they're trying very hard to make a proper homage to such a classic and popular film.

Now if these were pics and casting for a remake of like, Princess Bride ( I'm not advocating it, chill, but at this rate it's inevitable in the next 10 years ), I'd agree 100%.

See I disagree the special effects are not laughable now. They are just different. They are still very well done for what they are even by today's standards. Barely anyone does stop motion work that high of caliber.

I was a huge fan of the movie as a kid and I am still a huge fan of the movie today. I think that film makers have a tendency specially today to hide behind the claim they are "paying homage" when all it really means is another shitty remake of a classic movie that fails because film makers take shortcuts today often and they also pander to the largest group of people who go to the movie theaters so they can make the most money and in general the largest group of people who go to movie theaters are largely uneducated when it comes to good film in my opinion.

And I didn't say that it was guaranteed to be shitty I just said based on remakes and revisits of classics this does have a high probability of being shitty.

Ya but when you have casting including Liam Neeson and Ralph Fiennes, that's an indicator to me that someone, somewhere is trying to take this seriously.

And what I meant by laughable is if you show a kid today who's seen Matrix or Harry Potter, Clash of the Titans, they'll laugh thinking it's a joke. I have the same level of respect for that movie as you, don't get me wrong.

What's going to make or break the movie to someone like us is how far they really push the envelope on special effects and not just rely on blue screen and CGI, as well I think their ability to scene for scene adapt it ( which I prefer ) over an entirely new script.

But regardless I think for pure entertainment factor it will be a really good movie and I won't be quick to be a cynic and discredit it.

Also I would be less of a cynic if film makers got off their lazy fucking asses and made unique movies instead of doing remakes. Maybe it is just because I watched a lot of movies as a kid but it seems like the remakes are getting worse and worse.

I just heard an announcement that they were remaking the first Predator movie. That movie isn't even that old... and they are casting Adrian Brodie as the lead.... wtf? (Oh and Topher Grace is in it too)

They should remake Rambo with Shaia LeBouf or however you spell his name as Rambo.
