Do the effects in the trailer make anyone else think of Hellboy 2? Especially the heads on those witches. Makes me think of this fucker:

Would it be so terrible to just have human beings without eyeballs? Why do we have to go so over the top with the effects all the time? There is such a thing as overdoing it.

Just judging from what's here and the fact that there are only 2 spoken lines in the entire trailer... I feel fucktardedness coming on. Remaking it into a balls-out action film is fine I suppose if it's done right, but I have a feeling they're going to cut out a lot of the story that holds everything together. I also get the feeling that even though it's barely touched on in the trailer, the love interest in this film is going to be some wisecracking, ass-kicking warrior princess. Guess I'm just tired of that type of character now.

Ya but when you have casting including Liam Neeson and Ralph Fiennes, that's an indicator to me that someone, somewhere is trying to take this seriously.

And what I meant by laughable is if you show a kid today who's seen Matrix or Harry Potter, Clash of the Titans, they'll laugh thinking it's a joke. I have the same level of respect for that movie as you, don't get me wrong.

What's going to make or break the movie to someone like us is how far they really push the envelope on special effects and not just rely on blue screen and CGI, as well I think their ability to scene for scene adapt it ( which I prefer ) over an entirely new script.

But regardless I think for pure entertainment factor it will be a really good movie and I won't be quick to be a cynic and discredit it.

While this is kind of true for the most part, there is some hope. My nephew, who is a huge Hary Potter fan and all kinds of tech savvy, has recently (in last couple months) taken a huge interest in Greek mythology. He's 7 and I pulled out the classic 'Clash of the Titans' to watch with him last week. At first he said that that was some pretty crappy cgi. When I told him that it was made before they had cgi and the monsters were clay & toys, he reponded, "Oh, well thats pretty cool, then".
He loved the movie btw and is now as excited to see the remake as I am.

This is an absolute must see for me...growing up I watched Clash of the Titans every time I knew it was on TV. Which was a ton considering TBS had the broadcasting rights for it.

Loved the old one, I don't think the new one will be a let down at all *crosses fingers*

For some reason I don't think I've ever seen the old one. And while the kraken looked good, I'm actually more interested in seeing the medusa/gorgon in action. Can't really recall a movie of recent memory that depicted one of those.

Bump for this movie coming out Friday. From all the reviews I've read, avoid the 3D version at all costs. Everything I've read, it is awful. Go to AICN to read a few thoughts about it. I bought tickets in advance, but they're letting me do a refund, and I'm getting normal tickets.
