Purchasing a new laptop battery

I've had my laptop for about a year and a half now, and the battery is pretty much dead. Fully discharges in like 20~30min

So I'm looking for a new battery, preferably something that was better than the original one that came with the laptop. I, however, have no idea how to go about searching for this. (I'm guessing buying one from Sony will just be the same as the one I originally had, so I'm thinking maybe a third party battery may be better? I don't really know too much about this topic)

Laptop model is a Sony Vaio VGN-NR285E. Any help would be greatly appreciated, Thank you.

Either go with the official battery from Sony, or a reliable 3rd party brand. If you don't want to take any chances, just get the official one from Sony. Also, make sure you flash your BIOS after you install the new battery.

Don't go for anything off E-bay, as they're usually returns or rejects from factories in China that are sold illegally by employees. They're generally shit and don't last long either.

In my opinion due to the vast amount of batteries out there I think it's better to stick with the original parts.

However, to be honest i've never came across multi-laptop batteries (probably due to the fact that there's so many different laptops), the same way I've not come across multi-batteries for mobile phones.

Chargers, plenty, in both cases. But not batteries.

It MAY be possible that there's a high performance type battery but they bulge out the laptop at the back for your laptop, but hard to say.
