I requested an invite quite some time ago, still waiting back to see if my account will get upgraded to have wave beta access.
Also waiting....
and for those who don't know http://wave.google.com
I am also interested in an invite, if anyone has any!
I was just thinking about this last night on my way home from work, but forgot to look it up when I got home...
I have an account but no invites to give away as yet it seems![]()
tbh it's not all that... unless you have lots of friends already using it you won't use it much. It's basically just kinda like a forum/irc thing but where anyone can edit other peoples comments, so it's a bit silly in some ways... and the games etc are okay but I don't really see this replacing anything or being anything more than a novelty for a few weeks to be honest.
It has the potential to be fucking awesome for e-tabletop gaming.
Ooh good point, I hadn't thought of thatand yeah!
Gmail isn't all that either, but what gmail provides is usually free, easy to use and integrated with their other components fairly well, which means a single logon. This alone will mean it will be used even if it brings nothing more to the table, which isn't true, it does lots of things which make it unique, it's much more than a forum/irc...
Completely unrelated.

I love these guys.
I guess I just don't really see what the big deal is. It tries to do too much and as a result doesn't end up really doing anything much at all. I think for really specialised thigns it'd be okay (like tabletop gaming) but I can't really see it replacing forums or IRC. one on one conversation maybe, but not group stuff beyond the specialist stuff.
over hyped piece of junk - next please
this was my impression tbh when I saw the video a week ago. I guess the nice thing is to have all that stuff in one place (with your email that is), but it does appear to be a load of complicated fluff, that really isn't going to get used all that often.
Of course, I could be wrong, but totally not excited about it until I see a good function/need for it.
It's not the kind of thing that's just going to appeal to you if you don't have a use for it. I can think of a number of uses for it from a film making perspective, particularly pre-production film making, where easy access to ideas is paramount to the success of the film.
Script writing, storyboarding, location hunting, financing... It could all be done from within wave with other people (producers, directors, DoPs) in a very streamlined manner via Wave. This is what I hope to try out in Wave when I finally get an invite.
Personally I'd love this short of thing for a collaborative meeting with my office. Instead of saying to make changes to a document, you can make the changes while everyone is present and agree to the changes. No need to make the changes and then send them out to make sure everyone agrees to it.
Legal offices I believe would love this because it would streamline the process of document changes. Instead of doing it over the phone verbally and then sending the revision, you'd change the document while both sides see the changes.
how is it any easier than using irc in those situations you listed, if you're not meeting with people?
I would actually say in that scenario you listed, skype would be better because you can conference call people, and send messages in the conference at the same time.
You can already do this with Google Documents, the idea is called "Living Documents"
I use Google Documents for a lot of stuff at work. I am eager to see Google Wave, and how I might be able to incorporate it into our department workflows.
So far I have found use for most of google's apps...
Google is the shit, except for there phone. Iphone ftw.I swear the team just makes stuff off a whim. Smoke a joint, get some crazy idea then actually create it the next day. I want an invite, someone hook me up please. There is a bag of cookies for your fataru in it!
