Did they end up testing the alternator or anything while you were at the place? I would have probably done that instead of just flat out buying a new battery. Now if it isn't the battery you just wasted your time and money without fixing the problem.
My mechanic actually told me that, and he's been incredibly nice to me. I personally have been going to him since I got my car, and my parents have been going for the past 20 or so years. When my mirror broke (some jackass sideswiped me) he found me a new one and put it on for like 20$ parts/labor, and I know the mirror was at least 50$.
I'm thinking my car just eats batteries, of course it also spent most of its time in Maine, and the last few winters have been pretty harsh. I don't get AAA to replace my batteries because I know they're just gouging me on it.
Wtf what AAA branch is telling you it needs replaced every two years? That's a blatant fucking lie. We suggest here(at Pennsylvania AAA) to get it tested every three years. Average life span of a battery in an automobile that is used regularly is a little over five years. At six year, we suggest taking it in to a mechanic just to look it over and make sure there is no leakage, corrosion, or rust.
I drove the car on Monday, it started completely fine. Tuesday my friend went and got shit out of my trunk and used my key fob so the locks and trunk popped fine, and then the next day its dead as a doornail so although I guess the alternator could still have a problem, it seems that the problem this time occurred while the car was off and nothing should have been drawing from it.
i do see a trend here. it involves your friend going into your car. he could be not closing something properly leaving a light on or actually physically leaving a light on. check and see if you have a manual switch for your trunk light, i know my car has one and if i leave it on a certain position the light stays on even after the trunk is closed.
get another jump and goto autozone or whereever you bought the battery from. they will test the system for free and it takes them all of 5min
You may also consider pleasuring your car a bit too. It shouldnt just be left outside in the elements, you need to make it feel special.. you need to make it feel loved. Maybe that will solve your problem.

Just because it was bumped, thanks for all the suggestions guys. Haven't had any problems after replacing the battery. Idk if the rapid temp change got it or what have you but everything's back to normal for now.
