exactly how much of an advantage would getting ACP body with fastcast/enmity be over just using IR body as a pld enmity macropiece? assume loq + homam pants as other fastcast gear. after the IR body came out this combo seems to loose some of its luster.
I've done it on rdm/nin. Chainspell gravity on the pets when it pops, then bring the NM in the tunnel leading to the low level area. When it repops the pets reapply gravity etc. It's long and boring though. And the difficulty is to not lose aggro on xolotl or it depops.
@Mallister - Its still unique in the sense its function wasnt as much as an enmity macro piece but rather as a valuable tool to lower recasts and cast time for Flash/Utsus/Reprisal etc, in a slot with no other alternatives in that regard. However, the fact you dont want to idle in it will mean you will usually not starts casts with it thus losing the reduced cast time with it, and any time you dont flash at the exact time the recast is ready also kills some of the recast benefit, not to mention is very likely you can cap recast time without it due to haste and double march that you will still want no matter what.
So it was never game breaking, but it hasnt really lost its luster due to I.R.
There are things called macros. Adding an equip line before you start casting the spell should allow you to always benefit from fast cast. However, the fact you dont want to idle in it will mean you will usually not starts casts with it thus losing the reduced cast time with it
Also, before iron ram, it was the best enmity body you could easy peasy pick up. So not only was it able to improve all your spells, you would also be able to use it in every JA macro too. It no longer serves that function, halving it's utility.
Getting fast cast is still neat, it will still probably shave off a second or two on ni and flash, some more on reprisal, but those are the only things you would actually use it in. That is pretty severely limited use for a body that could give another job a unique bonus.
End point is, if you can get iron ram body, your ACP body is better spent on another job.
it's only going to give a recast bonus if you end casting in it, meaning it'd have to be in your melee/idle sets is what he meant. only benefit for it if you're not idling in it is the fastcast/enmity, which is admittedly a much larger chunk than i'd normally have available (5% on the body, and then 2% from loq and 4% from homam cosc. according to wiki).
You do realize that rdms deal with this on a daily basis and can benefit by swapping fast cast pieces in and out per spell? You don't need this in your idle gear, you just need to macro in an appropriate wait time to switch back to iron ram.it's only going to give a recast bonus if you end casting in it, meaning it'd have to be in your melee/idle sets is what he meant. only benefit for it if you're not idling in it is the fastcast/enmity, which is admittedly a much larger chunk than i'd normally have available (5% on the body, and then 2% from loq and 4% from homam cosc. according to wiki).
/equip body ACP
//flash
/wait 1
/equip body IR
Tada! You can get fast cast and not idle in it. Seriously, it's ni and flash that you're going to be most worried about, which have such short casting times that you don't need to freak out about. Ichi, if you're being lazy, could just increase the wait time to 3~3.4 or whatever it would be.
There is no reason whatsoever to full time ACP body now.
i've considered juggling my spellcast and macros around to just not have an aftercast on shadows/flash and have a /wait in my macro to go back to my usual haste/idle sets; problem is my shittastic satellite connection reacts badly to doing this as well as it fucking up my kiting/straight up sets (easily fixed by just having another macro pallet ready though). i can't stress exactly how fucked my connection is; i try to keep it simple or half the time it just doesn't fully process. idling in ACP was never really something i was considering.
That doesn't change the fact that getting FC/enmity on ACP body is no longer that good since the introduction of iron ram.
So you can either squander the augment for a pld piece and then gimp yourself from crappy internet not allowing you to toggle gear sets effectively.
or
You could just get something better with ACP and use iron ram.
lol i think we're on the same page here
Does anyone know the link to complete photos of all of the new armors ebon furia ebur armors. I remember the day they all got .dat mined someone posted what they all look like on a hume male or some junk. I've searched and cant seem to find it. Any links to outfits on a hume female will be extra appreciated!
No where did I say Iron Ram had fast cast.Since when does Iron Ram have fast cast?
What I did say is that ACP FC/enmity body is significantly less appealing after SE introduced an easy (though time consuming) to get 6 enmity body piece. IIRC before it was Hydra, then AF2 body, then purple/AF+1 for your enmity options, with the first two being harder for most people to get and the last two being inferior to ACP/IR. When you were upgrading the enmity on your body and getting fast cast ACP body was sweet...but when you're using your ACP body for just fast cast at the cast of 1 enmity, it is obviously less desirable than it was before IR was released.
I used a simple /equip/wait/equip macro just for simplicity on how you could benefit from fast cast and not have to idle in it, since the guy on the last page was trying to argue that you had to idle fast cast gear for it to matter. If that were a real macro, change the wait line to 1.5 seconds or whatever fraction you would want, which would also include other fast cast gear.Protip: You use fast cast for the recasts unless you can get a decent quantity of it(proportionally increasing returns), nobody gives a fuck about 5% casttime on anything. Ichi is 4 seconds, that's cutting it to 3.8..
I've done a ridiculous number of Sandworms and Lambton Worms as PLD, yet I still don't understand Slavernous Gale.
A) Is it magical or physical? With Shell V I've taken anywhere from 200 to 1600 damage. It reminds me of Ore Lob where the amount of damage is reduced greatly by the amount of shadows remaining. It does interrupt spell casting as well unlike Breaths, etc.
B) Is the proc on the slow / virus purely random? Sometimes it does, sometimes it doesn't; but when they do proc, both effects always proc together.
I always thought it was a breath, is it not? Can you not reduce the damage based on positioning?
I'd assume similar to a lot of player debuff WSes. And I'm fairly certain there's other mob TP moves that do this too, though perhaps not a ton. Random, perhaps based on TP.B) Is the proc on the slow / virus purely random? Sometimes it does, sometimes it doesn't; but when they do proc, both effects always proc together.
Anyway, sorry I don't have anything definite.
Has anyone's LS's ever tried doing a lot of nm fights with monk's roll and fully merited penance rotation to keep tp accumulation down? Also have you ever tried this in conjunction with a drk rotation of absorb TP for greater effect? This seems like a no brainer but I only did it against kirin, without a cor or drk, very few times, and a that was years ago. So if you have done this kind of strategy where it's the main focus of the fight multiple times on different mobs, how'd it go?
