What are some good strategies for defeating Lugh?

When he was first added we tried a traditional tank party + melée / ranger DDs and it didn't go so well. He hits hard, double attacks often and hate is really weird just like the rest of the fomor kings.

Long story short we said F this and just TP burned him, since then have done it with as few as 12. Doesn't have that much HP so ~6-8 heavy DDs can take him down with 4 SVed songs + 2hrs. Our rdm/drk said that stuns hit but wore incredibly fast so it's up to you whether or not to bring one. DRKs don't work too well since it is undead (duh), but SAMs DRGs WARs MNKs etc are all good choices. You can build TP on the DC crawlers around him before engaging, just be careful of blood aggro.

Edit: forgot to mention that even with a RDM/DRK your DDs should probably sub /NIN because he can get tier 4 nukes off in between stuns, and also his AoE WS can be absorbed by utsusemi.

I put mine on the left side above the radar, if you use the menu to cast often it won't work well for you though, I either use macros or type all my spells...I have 1280x768 res

I don't know the answer to your question but I can tell you piercing weak has nothing to do with hitting 0's if I recall correctly. The 25% bonus is calculated afterwards, so if you're hitting 4's on a neutral mob you're hitting 5's on an identical piercing-weak mob. Zero times 1.25 is still zero, though.

Alright, not completely related to ingame, but two questions I hope can get answered.

1. What would cause a File Check to freeze at the same file every time? Whenever I try and file check FFXI, it freezes on either 3.DAT or 30.DAT, with around 4300 files left. I then can't do anything, and I can't even open Task Manager to end the process.

2. After downloading the POL update today, I can't connect to the server when I log in. It gets to downloading data after choosing a character, and then pops up about a second later with cannot connect to server. Anyone else experiencing this? I know it's not our internet, because someone else in the house is on fine.

Get a mnk and duo an om'yovra for 100% drop.

If you can't find a capable mnk (it is a bit tough to duo), get a brd, VERY EASY trio, even if they need one, you can down 3 in half an hour, easy.

It's a random glitch with windower; you're going to have to restart when that happens. I sometimes get the same thing (or a similiar glitch where it displays the same moonspeak phrase for everything). It happens to me pretty much everytime I DC and relog.

In addition to the above poster, Auto-translate in /echo does not normally have brackets at all (at least with Windower, not sure sure about w/o Windower), just tested.

That's what I thought, but I couldn't remember for sure and I never enter anything in auto-translate for /echo anyway so I thought I'd include it just in case.

@Andradi: You can, but it's really not worth the trouble unless you're somehow unable to put together a trio for Om'yovra farming.

Thanks, last time we weren't really sure what we were getting into due to lack of information (didn't know about magic counter, didn't know he leveled up after every blue magic cast)

It actually really depends, but 1H gets comparatively big benefits from STR due to low DMG and high TP/WS ratio. Rajas should cut off one hit usually, and the DEX might give some critical hitrate. In optimal situations Rajas/Blood for sure.
