I like your thoughts on this, I might go with RAcc +10 and Snapshot too. Not sure if that will be better than Kirin's Osode though. I am still torn, but at least I can get the body and test it out.
I love the Barbut by the way. "It is so choice. If you have the means, I highly recommend picking one up." In seriousness, it's not that hard to get the boxes and the fight isn't too bad. The drop rate on them is great too.
I like it for drg/mage for lower delay and still high damage, so it's decent but w/o aurum body it's never good for /sam, with aurum it's comparable to thalo/skystrider since extra attacks from lower delay can make up for damage, obivously thalo +1, V. Fork, or strong augment fay lance[5 dmg/2~3 str/dex] all better
Ranking for /sam, assuming rajas already:
V. Fork/Sword strap/Aurum
478~492 Polearm/Pole/Aurum
492 Polearm/Pole/ACP ACC/STP[only beats askar if you need the acc]
492 Polearm/Pole/Askar
492 Polearm/Rose/Other Body[Homam/Relic +1/Zahak/Something else if lack other options]
/mage
Ares Body
Then depends what fighting if Non-evasive targets
Relic +1 => Askar[stp is hard to account for when mob hits you] > Zahak > Barone > Other
If acc needed:
Homam > ACP Acc/Stp > SH/+1 > Zahak > Aurum > same as above.
With the introduction of rose strap (since prior to rose strap sTP +4 on Mirke was the better choice imo) I would think that hands down Mirke with Snapshot/RAacc would be the best TP body piece for rng, more so with capped merits.
I have also heard that RAatt +10/Snapshot+5 is the better choice but from personal experience on rng I feel that my accuracy can't afford a massive acc loss in the body slot since I sacrifice a lot of racc for Xhit builds anyway.
"Massive loss" of ranged accuracy? Were you wearing your Hunter's Jerkin full time? Because if you were in Osode, it's a loss of 5 AGI.
I've gotten plenty of mileage out of Snapshot and Ranged Attack. Food and/or a couple of gear swaps should be sufficient to cover Ranged Accuracy needs, but you shouldn't be hurting that badly with a proper buff line. If you're getting things like double Minuet or Chaos Roll, you're not missing out that badly to use Pot-au-Feu for accuracy instead of eking out a few more points of Attack from Yellow Curry. The difference for Red Curry might be relevant, but it'd be slim.
Question for SAMs (I don't have it leveled):
Since SAM WSs are single hit, essentially have capped ACC in most instances, and have high pDIF to boot, what is your take on WSing in a X-hit set? Maybe you do this already, but if not, here's what I'm trying to compare:
DMG gain from STR v DMG gain from keeping a consistent X-hit build
Has there been a comparison of this or is the available sTP gear such that the X-hit build will be the same even if you WS in sTP gear?
Wear what you have to, consistency in WS frequency will far outweigh minor losses in STR and Attk
Does BRD skill gear need to remain equipped at the end of a cast for it to gain any effects, or can it be quickly be put on at the beginning of a cast much like Fast Cast and then swapped out for haste at the end of it?
Eg:
Begin casting Elegy in manteel/relevant skill+ pieces
wait 1
Finish casting in haidate/osode/other haste+ pieces
Completely redoing Bard macros, and wondering if I've been doing it wrong this whole time. >.>
Skill gear needs to be equipped when the song finishes casting to have an effect
How much RACC does it take to reliably land Slugwinder at 100% TP?
Also, Osode vs Coselete with RACC/RATT+10 for Sidewinder? I'm assuming Osode, so long as the hit to RACC doesn't result in a wiff.
Are there any comparisons of STR vs AGI for Sidewinder on a point-for-point basis? (e.g., 1 STR = 1 AGI, or what have you.)
Was wondering if those yagudo NMs in Castle Oztroja [s] can be soloed for SNM by rdm. And are they immune to para too like their counterparts? Seems impossible to straight tank any of them except for the demon.
For Rdm's merit2 wise, was trying to justify if slow2 is better than para2 for soloing, i have 1 merit in para2. So far i soloed all the orcs and quadavs (except imp/nevermolt which are never up) with slow1, which seems manageable. Is max potency para2 game breaking?
There are better uses for superfluous MP than Para2, stick to 1
EDIT: For soloing*
All SNMs are immune to para, bind and gravity.
Slow1's cap is 25%, level 1 Slow2's is something like 36% (forgot the exact value). That alone justifies unlocking it.
Para2 costs 6 times Para1, has a negligibly higher potency and is less accurate than it at level 1 (SE confirmed this IIRC).
I only use it when Paralyze's accuracy is nearly floored on certain HNMs, when I want to really stick para and have nothing better to do.
How long is Ochuido's Kote viable for SAM? I'm leveling it soon and I'm trying to figure out if it's worth camping or if I should just buy it off the AH and resell it once it serves no purpose.
