No, no, Haste everywhere at all times. If any situation exists where one should equip something other than Haste, you shouldn't be in that situation.

Getting rumors of Ugg pendant not working with QD, any truth to that?
Posted once, didn't really receive any help, but does anyone have a GOOD Paladin .xml for spellcast they can PM me or post here? This would be amazing, just looking for a good one to start off of, thanks.
mine is a bit weird and doesn't have some of my sets worked in yet because i'm lazy.. but i'll pm it to you in a sec. It's my pld/nin spellcast.
I use quite a few variables as a workaround for different shields/weapons etc.
Edit: Actually looking over it. Mine is very weird lol. may be better to go with someone else's. but i sent it anyway.
Not to toot my own Gjallar fucking Horn here but I've gone against the hivemind quite a few times. Dune vs. Fuma being one of them. Turns out I was right. By the way, referring to a "hivemind" of some sorts to support your statement or attack another is a logical fallacy referred to as an "argumentum ad populum". You may be right by referring to the hivemind as being wrong, stuck-up, and overly excited by the haste stat or so... but only if you have logical (in FFXI's case this often goes straight to mathematical, seeing as the game is based on formulae) arguments to support your case. You can't just say "I'm right but the hivemind says I'm wrong so I must be wrong /sarcasm". That's doing it wrong.
I do believe I did my Dune vs. Fuma math well. If you have additions or revisions by all means go ahead. But as it stands now I (hivemind or not) believe Dune Boots are a case of Hundred Fists and Footwork+Dragon Kick only. Cream Soda's slow+50% shouldn't come into existence much but by all means swap them in quickly if you're under such effects.
In the case of slow+50% you need to be demanding the death of your mage for not using erase yet.
100fists caps at around 80% haste if i remember the mnks around me correctly so in a zerg the haste samba would put the mnk in top haste gear at 80% hence 100fists would only serve to do the same thing as the buffs the mnks already are getting with less emphasis on str/atk.
I see. So it works one of two ways then:
1. The zerg lasts past the buffs (For some reason). It's best to save Hundred fists in this situation since Non-SV buffs (Or lazy mages/BRDs) will result in non-capped haste.
2. The zerg won't last past the buffs. I would think Hundred Fists is still better since you can use the STR/ATT (Though minimal in effect, is still better).
Edit: Hundred fists doesn't stack with other haste? Nvm then. Full buffs are much better.
Is there a problem with the Amphipteres in Xarc (S)? Ive been walking under them for the longest time but they wont come down for shit.
Anyone know why or have a workaround?
Question for the drgs: outside of deep breath, is wyrm armet worth macroing in for breath dmg? I always seem to get lose out on my haste for the next attack round while it's still on. Does the extra dmg make up for that dmg and tp i just lost?
The effect of it diminishes the tougher the mob gets. Wyverns have terrible Magic ACC as far as breath damage goes (And if the pet isn't even at full health, it becomes worse), so you're better off not using it on tougher mobs. Even again Colibri it's a minimal increase (Roughly 30ish DMG extra?).
I know that I'm doing it wrong but, like I said, I really don't fucking care anymore, having argued this issue back and forth for years. I don't feel like finding whatever mathiness you've produced, but I'm going to bet that it doesn't account for extremely short fights with limited to no support. It's a modeling issue, as always. People use merits as their baseline and, really, that's fine, but there are situations where things drop well below the baseline. Moreover, people grossly inflate what the baseline might be. If I'm in an English-speaking pick-up merit party here on Alexander, the only way that Dia II gets cast on the Greater Colibri is if I'm playing White Mage, period, but everyone around here calculates as though its permanently present. You were rattling off some nonsense about using Fuma Kyahan over Usukane Sune-Ate a page ago and I'm sure you were choosing to assume that Attack would be capped along with Accuracy (I can cap Accuracy, not Attack). And, of course, there's the issue of Enmity and Counter and all those other inconvenient things that is too much trouble to account for.
The above noise about Hundred Fists is a pretty good example of how not to do it. First of all, the Cult of Haste forgot that Hundred Fists even exists. Secondly, we start bringing up the "Well, in a fully-buffed zerg situation..." Yeah, and what about when you've got 3-4 Monks taking down the Seed Crystal or, you know, when you're fighting Salvage bosses? I can count on one hand the number of times I've beaten a Chariot without burning Hundred Fists because TP spam under 25% just gets obnoxious. I certainly don't have a trio of rotating Bards, a pair of Corsairs, and a Dancer buffing me there, though.
But, really, the thing that I was mostly thinking with regards to Dune Boots is bleeding Dynamis. In cities with good attendance (30+), I'm sometimes lucky if I can get more than two attack rounds in and I cannot count on whomever is buffing to be able to keep it perfectly maintained as people run in and out of range and crowd control are necessary. In fights that might last literally 10 seconds, for the average Dynamis crowd participant (meaning Turban [or bleeding Denali Bonnet] and, in the case of Monk, Brown Belt) the percentage difference between Dune Boots and Fuma Kyahan is practically nominal. You can probably write up some equation that says I'm wrong and Fuma Kyahan will "guarantee" .00015% more damage and I can roll my eyes in boredom and disgust. The differences in damage so often claimed only ever seem to exist in the land of mathematics, anyhow, since parsing rarely captures a meaningful difference and things like player reaction time in terms of engaging are likely to have a greater impact than 1% Haste.
But, like I said, I'm talking about really marginal and unusual situations. What did I say to wear? That's right: Fuma Kyahan. Mostly, I said what I did because I knew that people couldn't resist latching onto an off-hand remark that was totally irrelevant because I still recommended what everyone would have recommended.
