Is there anyway to do a FFXI file check without having a content ID? I did a format last night and want to get my game up to date for when I do get my content ID back, but it won't let me get far enough to update. There is no check files for FFXI in the check files option that I can find for FFXI.
two hander gets the benefit of extra 25% haste via hasso/last resort, and -3% delay grip, so 378 * .97 = 366.6, then assuming the haste difference means going from 25% gear/43.75 spell to 25% gear/43.75 spell/25% JA so
68.75 to 80% which is giant increase in terms of speed, I think some 40% increase so should beat the delay difference.
I had forgotten about desperate blows was two handed weapons only however,
Ferra is 387 delay
Republic Dagger is 168
Ferrara with 5/5 desperate blows and sword strap is essentially 281 delay. Add in soul voiced marches, haste, and 21% gear it goes down to 74.78
Republic dagger with the marches, gear, /drg and spell is 52.50 delay.
Now using dual republic daggers (lowest drk daggers I found) you'll a delay of 101.52, with suppa 95.55 (47.775 each)
Yes, haste is amazing, but haste increases are significantly less impressive when the weapon has over twice the delay of an alternative. You're just trying to get hits in when zerging, so I imagine the base damage on either weapon isn't going to make much of a difference anyways.
Obviously any multihit weapon would be superior, but it seems like a republic dagger would be better than a ferrara.
Also correct me if I'm wrong, but aren't the delay differences just straight up for haste as in delay * (1-haste%)? It seems like you're deluding yourself with haste increases relative to the same weapon than comparing actual delays. While going from 75=80 haste is like a 40% increase in attack speed it would have the same delay of say a weapon with 40% haste and half it's normal delay.
Perhaps I'm calculating something incorrectly, but it definitely seems like haste mania, at least for drks, is severely underestimating the natural delay differences.
If I remember right, capped Desperate Blows already caps JA Haste. The advantage of Ferrara zerging is that you don't need as much support and only the DRK needs to 2-hour. You're using a high-skill weapon, so you don't necessarily need Feint, etc. A DRK/NIN could Ferarra Zerg something with just a SVing Bard as support.
25% Haste from Desperate Blows + 20% Haste from gear + 20% from Marches + 15% from Haste = Haste cap.
Your sub doesn't matter here really, but if you can't get 20% Haste from gear then you could consider subbing DRG and using Wyvern Earring. Don't need Hasso thanks to Desperate Blows. I assume Ferrara was chosen because it's the lowest delay 2H weapon that DRK can equip, but if there's a lower delay one then it would probably be even better for this.
For crit based WS, it helps to know what your current dex is, and what kind of situations you're using your ninja in. Generally I'd use the Flame Ring, but if I could be sure that 5 dex would give a big boost to my crits (like going from 112 to 117 dex and I used my ninja on Colibri lots), I'd go for that (and also assuming my acc was good enough to not warrant using a +acc ring instead of +str/dex).
Oops, sambas wouldn't stack.
But that doesn't explain why you keep fwapping to haste while disregarding the fact that a GS with 50% haste would swing as fast as a dagger with half it's delay. So unless you can match more than the difference in delay with haste, dagger would be faster.
Granted you would have substantially less accuracy, be contributing essentially 0 melee damage, and have no use for your TP once you get 100+ though all those are disregarded for KC/OC/M.Kris anyways with songs/buffs/feint.
3 TP-related questions:
How do you calculate the TP-gain for a weapon (specifically ranged weapons). Looking back through the old Random Question Thread, they say E-bow is 14.8 Base Delay (with 90 delay ammo), but wiki says E-bow is 13.3% and demon arrows are 4.3% (arrows looks wrong).
If I want to minimize the number of hits to 100%, what's the minimum number of hits I could get with ideal store TP gear using E-bow? 5? I can see getting close to a 5-hit with /sam, rajas, and skadi legs. I remember people talking about Mekki Shakki for more store TP but that alone isn't enough to lower it to a 5-hit. I was thinking Rose Strap would work but when i last saw the x-hit debate, I don't think Rose Strap was out yet?
Finally, how many decimal places do TP calcs truncate to? I ask this because as I recall, you require +21 STP (beyond STP IV) to attain a 6-hit with hagun. However, as far as my calculations say +20 STP will give 16.675 TP/hit (a 6-hit) but this doesn't apply in practice.
I'm not exactly sure how to calculate by delay, I've always used ffxi calc to determine bow+arrow. edit: Nvm, that was for accuracy. Here's the math behind it:
You need /sam, Rajas, Mekki, Skadi's legs and a Rose strap for a 5 hit. /sam alone will give you a 6-hit or you can use a combo of stp gear while /nin for a 6-hit.
EBow:
6-hit: Store TP+13
5-hit: Store TP+36
I think 16.675 would truncate to 16.6 tp.
Does anyone have or can anyone make a guide for idiots on where to drop to get to Mountain Worm.
So I wanted to test a weapon. So i go outside sandy and find bunnies and do sneak attack and hit it. Now I thought that this would let me do a max dmg crit after level correction and whatnot, since I am 75 and the mob is as low as you can find, But I can not get the same weapon to do the same damage from bunny to bunny. Does this sound right?
What I was trying to check was did I break the latent on my Senjuinrikio or not.
So I did a few SA fudo strikes and then did a few sa senj strikes. Since SA already forces a crit I thought the crithit % on these weapons would not even be factored into the attack. But I see fudo doing way lower than senj, then the next set of bunnies it reverses and senj wins.
This was on the last page.
Basically the idea is to use the extra slots you free up by getting 9% Haste from using Rune chopper to cap Crit Hit rate (if possible) and then stack on STR. For birds, you'd be aiming for 117 DEX.
Good options for DEX and STR that you don't normally use because there are better Haste options in their slots are:
1) Askar Zuchetto
2) Askar Manopolas (if no V/S-belt)
3) Hachiryu Kotes (if V/S-belt)
4) Thunder or Flame Ring
5) Dex Augmented Dusk Gloves, Haste Warwolf belts, etc have their place somewhere in there too.
Keep in mind that stacking all this DEX will likely result in higher Acc, so you can also afford to do things like TP in a Flame Ring or Forager's.

Just because the bunnies are low level doesn't make you see the max critical everytime you crit even with sneak attack. You can still see a lot of variation.
To see if you broke the latent on your Senjuinrikio, just continue to kill bunnies noting your crits. Locked Senjuinrikio should have a max crit of 116-117 I believe. If you see criticals higher than that then it should be unlocked.
