When a WS in on multiple sea gorgets..do both do the same bonus, or is one better than the other depending on the situation, and if so what's the situation?

Looking at Snow vs. Soil for Rana

    Base TP per hit = 13.36 = 13.3

    6 hit = 100/6 = 16.67 = 16.7

    16.7/13.3 = 1.255 = 1.26

    Sam = 15 sTP

True 6 hit you'd need 11 sTP, rajas + brtual = 6, so 5 more for true 6 hit, less depending on how many Penta hits you land (too lazy to do those calculations)

    ---

As far as I know, Gorgets will do exact same thing, as long as they can both to apply to the WS

At 75, DC doesn't just mean lvl 74. There's a chance some DC mobs will be lvl 73, which you're already capped on (259 at A-). That particular DC mob which skilled you up at 260 would be lvl 74, so you could go to 264 on that one; but a lvl 73 DC won't give you any skill.

Same, so just get what can be used for as many of your WS as possible. If you don't already have a gorget for BLU WS, I'd get Soil.

Actually, here's a helpful link as to which gorgets can potentially cover everything: http://userpages.umbc.edu/~rshaw1/gorgets.html

I would rather go with rdm + nin if duo, adding a thf in is best. I have never soloed on bst but duo just involves 2hr 2 of the VT-IT eyes and attacking balor. If you are insistent on bst + pup I'd 2hr a VT-IT eye and use it to pull the NM to the opening area with DC-T eyes/bats and just whittle it down with pup nuking/deactivating. I'd really recommend doing it with nin rdm thf just for safety and TH.

Edit: The VT-IT eyes are the blubber eyes located at j-11 and SE corner of j-5 (there are some other pop locations but those are as good as any for duoing belt NMs. Make sure you've got blink and full mp before trying to charm as it will likely take several tries before it works.

I have neither rdm nor nin 50, so that combo would be impossible w/o looking for more to join. She has everything 50+ and I have mnk sam pup drg dnc 50+

You could smn burn a few levels on your nin and get it to 50+ in less than 2hrs. I only have any experience of doing the fight with 2 bst or nin + rdm (and randomly having a thf for TH in either instance) so other than pulling it to the zone in area with charmable pets (which has a risk of being stolen with 1 bst) I don't see a better option.

I don't really have any advice on how to do it with Puppetmaster, but a Beastmaster with a Familiared Blubber Eyes should have no meaningful difficulty with Balor. Add in a Puppetmaster to do a little damage and that should ensure that the NM actually dies. I've only ever fought Luaith (Elvaan) and he can tear mobs down a lot more efficiently.

As for the pull and whatnot, simply Sneak up, trade your Codex, and have a safe corner to run to. People say that your Fomor hate is completely wiped but I've had incidents that suggest otherwise. Once you're huddled in your corner, get a pet on it ASAP so you can put Sneak back up and get out into the hallway. Pull the NM into the hallway (might be a bit of a pain since he's a Ranger) and fight it there, making sure not to stand in front of it lest you get nailed with Foxfire. The NMs have surprisingly little HP. I once Dia-kited Luaith for a bit as an act of desperation and that pathetic DoT actually did cause his HP to drop.

If not Puppetmaster, then coming as Dancer simply to get some steps onto the NM might be helpful. I cannot imagine that an automaton would last long being attacked and you have limited space in which to try to deploy and retrieve before damage is dealt. My understanding, though, is that a Beastmaster with a Blubber Eyes should not have undue difficulty with Balor.

Lol i can't even get into a smn burn to finish my sch sub. I may just give up and do the last 7 lvs the regular way, yet alone nin.

Its unlikely a solo blubber eyes will outlast Balor and isn't worth risking the hassle it takes to get codex then cap hate, if you can find TH and another bst it would be much more profitable use of time.

Jesus, I log off for a few hours and so much bullshit thrown around..

A PLD idling in atonement gear has no more survivability than a SAM in DD gear. To say they do is to argue for defense meaning shit, since shield blocks are just a dice roll.. and if an unshield-blocked ability is going to kill you, then you should probably be idling in defensive gear. In these situations, a RDM tank will stay alive better and cap both CE and VE, making them a better choice.. your atonement damage over time is essentially nothing if you're stuck idling in gear to stay alive instead of your atonement build.

If you're keeping your survivability high enough for your ls while tanking in homam/toreadors/etc to properly spam atonement, then a samurai in DD gear will maintain the same level of survivability while dealing more damage(and also capping hate!). If you're going to argue for PLD's self-cures(which amount to less than what a 40 RDM mule could throw out over time, given neither gets to use staves and the 40 RDM has convert), you're pretty much retarded.

PLD is a nice job in that it can tank anything in the game, but to call it ideal for any of it is narrow-minded and ignorant.

But you need a Paladin to tank the Paladin Maat fight!

PLD is worthwhile for multiple reasons, the first of which is that it's the easiest tank job to play.

Just got my Duelist's Tabard yesterday, trying to make a use for it to its maximum potential. But first of all, how does fast cast work? To simplify things.....

    1) Equip fast cast gears >>> cast a spell >>> use the appropriate mnd/etc gears.

    2) Cast a spell >>> equip fast cast gears > wait for a fraction of time >>> use the appropriate mnd/etc gears.

Which one is the correct one? Or I'm just being paranoid, both can work too?

Fast cast gear first then swap whatever you like midcast.

Sorta surprised you don't know this as a Lv.75 RDM...

Hey hey, wait a minute. The above statement is false; while it is true that a SAM is a good enough tank in situations in which you can melee mobs, it is false that they have the same survivability than a PLD using DD gear. Of course shield blocks are a dice roll (specially without Aegis and/or shield skill gear), but to completely rule them out of the equation is wrong. You are just assuming that shield blocks won't occur without said gear on. Even if the rate is bad, it's still there, thus putting PLD ahead in survivability over SAM.

I do agree, however, that anything you shouldn't be meleeing is better off tanked by RDM (and NIN) than by PLD. The best thing about enjoying tanking is the wide variety of jobs/subjobs you can do it with. I have more fun playing PLD, and it's my favourite job, but that doesn't mean I'm going to go PLD to situations that call for my NIN, SAM or RDM.

I would argue that if a non-shield blocked WS will get you killed, relying on shield blocks to occur is a poor way of handlign the situation. If you aren't going to idle in anything defensive, you'll eventually die.. byakko is a good example of this. If you can think of a mob where PLD can tank in atonement set and not be putting themselves at risk of death, but SAM can't tank, please let me know.
