If a non shield-blocked WS is going to get you killed, you should be using defensive gear indeed (Serket is the first thing that came to mind), I agree.
SAM can tank almost anything perfectly fine; it's only impractical for most people because, well, most people don't understand how to tank on SAM to begin with (casting utsu with hasso/seigan up anyone?). In a perfect world, I agree that a SAM tank is probably the most efficient solution for many mobs, whereas a PLD is just as good of an option, but gives less DD power. However, it is when shit hits the fan that a PLD can shine over a SAM any day, due to the nature of the job and how easy it is to get things back in track if something goes nasty.
Sure, a PLD may not give as much kill speed as a SAM, but chances are you'll want a PLD for the safety it brings to the table in case something goes wrong. Don't bring up the "well, you must go with sucky people then" argument please, as I'm pretty sure I can say I speak for a vast majority of the playerbase when I say that shit happens, and that it's always handy to have a PLD around for those cases. Planning for the worst prevents you from staring at the ground after you wiped because your SAMs failed due to X or Y circumstances that weren't predicted beforehand. Also, I'm pretty sure that even the most skilled players go through "oh shit" moments, nobody's perfect.
In short, tank on whatever job you want, but don't be stupid about it.
The prevailing method is to use a mix of CHR and skill gear. Most BRDs aim for about 110-120 CHR and the rest +singing/wind (unless you're casting horde lullaby on things you're certain you can sleep easily, and then you might want to be using string). This number is purely based on people basically trying out gear and finding it to be a good spot. We really don't know if it's the optimal number, or how skill and CHR work on debuffs at all, just that they do.
The other thing is that most mobs in the game will either be relatively easily debuffed by BRD, or will be nearly impossible for a BRD to debuff. There are ones on the edge like Salvage chariots and Om'yovra where you'll notice a difference with better gear, but for most things, gear improvements will bring extremely small changes in your already high success rate. Then there are things like sky gods where debuffs will rarely land at all no matter what, unless you ES them.
Question got lost back there somewhere, and with all the PLD talk, no one answered my question
How do I switch campaign nations? I'm in windy and want to goto Sandy
And also is there any way I can autoamtically log on, and have Plastic surgeon change me to a random race?
http://bg-wiki.com/bg/Steamed_Rams is the quest to change your allegiance to San d'Oria (S).
No idea about the Plastic Surgeon question, sorry.
Is there some form of site that has a list of pics of various grown flowers in MH at different stages?
Also do they have different looks based on what crystals you feed em or is it always the same no matter what fed? Im looking at growing some for my MH to spice it up a bit and would like to find some that look nice.
Thank you!
There are some images over at FFXIclopedia on the Gardening page. This page actually has all the images you want, but it's bloody slow to load.
As for differences in appearance based on crystal, there is none. PS2 limitations and SE sloth.
Actually, why isn't there a "PS2 limitations" post icon to choose from? Totally need one for this game.
Does Cactrot Rapido have modified TP gain or is the generally accepted 10 tp per cast wrong? I have never heard of a mob gaining additional tp from being hit before :S
http://pastebin.org/61349

Two Blizzard III casts, and Five Bio III casts and it TPed. It did not hit me for over 0 once.
wouldent a sam meleeing in a realistic -36% dmg still be able to pump out more dmg then pld anyhow? Meaning even if you where lazy most likely you would be able to keep hate better still and kill faster?
I could be wrong though lol... also sam/nin id rather not touch tanking..... for me anything sam is going to be tanking on seigan and 3rd eye will be enough, and use my oshit gear for when it fails me.
I have noticed this as well, so usually i stopped after four bio III to be safe.
Another incident i had experienced is that after giving it some TPs at start, i decided to poison2 it all the way down. However towards the end, it decided to WS after a long time. It managed to hit me at start though, just that it waited till 40-50% of its hp to be gone to WS. Just find it a little strange, good thing it only did needleshot.
what's an average dmg guillotine hit for on greater colibri with just marches, no chaos roll or minuet?
Just hit WAR43 and I can't figure out my foot/hand WS combo for sturmwind. Would it be better to use Gothic Feet and Hands (STR +3 DEX +3 ATT +5) or should I use Leaping Boots and Custom M Gloves (STR +3 DEX +6)?
Also, just so I don't have to ask again at 45 is the big Luisant upgrade. I figure hands/body/legs are clear upgrades over anything else for TPing, but head and feet don't seem to be. I use a V. Sallet and Leaping Boots for TP right now and it doesn't seem worth it to ditch all that DEX for a 1 point of acc and 1 point of dex on both of those
I thought mobs could hold their TP, but after a certain percent (30%?) they use TP as soon as it hits 100. Amikiri was rumored to use TP after 5 damaging spells but that never happened with me.
I understand the fight's incredibly boring with only Poison but why risk it? If you're going to feed it TP just get a partner and end it in with chainspell. :/ I used to solo it, I still do if I'm bored enough, but I'd never risk it by feeding TP, I don't even nuke until I know it'll die. Cut time off the clock, what like 10, 15minutes tops?
I've seen 2 bows across 33 kills and I've noticed his TP gain while duoing 15-20 of those with a friend, too bad he's never seen it drop, all mine!
It most definitely takes more than 5 spells for it to get 100 TP. I'm chainspelling on RDM and my buddy uses BLM/NIN (better than another RDM/NIN imo, doesn't have to chainspell) and it's usually only used one TP move about half way through, very rarely has it ever used two, the second when it's nearly dead.
