IGN: Trek/Transformers Writers Take on Hawaii Five-O

October 9, 2009 - The ever-busy Alex Kurtzman and Roberto Orci, who wrote this summer's Star Trek film and co-created Fringe, are now turning to Hawaii Five-O.

Variety reports that the duo are reaming with CSI: NY executive producer Peter Lenkov on the project, which will be a new take on the cop drama, which ran an impressive twelve seasons. Lenkov will write a pilot script under Orci and Kurtzman's supervision – and should the project be picked up as a series, Lenkov will serve as showrunner.

Back in August 2008, CBS was developing a different Hawaii Five-O project, from Criminal Minds producer Ed Bernero. Bernero's take on it was a sequel series, focusing on the son of original Hawaii Five-O main character Steve McGarrett (played by Jack Lord). It's not clear if Orci, Kurtzman and Lenkov will also go that route or go with a more straightforward remake.

Orci and Kurtzman recently announced they would not be writing Transformers 3, after working on the first two films.

Just something that came to mind XD Personally don't remember ever watching the show. I just remember the song since when Hawaiian pizzas got popular
