Ah, it's been a hilarious day.

Burnt the terrible version of Halo ODST I had, threw it in my 360, and it worked. Gonna go put the screws back in, and box it up like nothing happened.

    So long story short:
    -cracked open 360
-plugged in SATA cable from 360 drive to computer
-stuck my finger in the dvd drive, and put it into 'vendor mode'
-used DosFlash and JungleFlasher to put a custom firmware on my 360 dvd drive

    Burning media:
-attempted to burn the ISO at 2.4x and 2x on Memorex media. Produced two coasters
-burnt it at 4x, failed to verify (didn't care at this point)
-put the disc in 360, game worked
-Verbatim 2.4x are recommended, from what I've read

Rumor has it, that MS will check your save files of your games, incase they were created by burnt games. But that won't be an issue if your game passed the ABGX stealth and crc test.

Thanks for the help all. It's been fun. I'll get back to you when I need my friend's Hitachi's drive flashed D:

My general rules for not getting banned are:

    • No pre-release/review copies
    • Don't play the game before it's official release date
    • If it doesn't patch, don't play it.
    • If you're at all worried, play the game offline without a HDD and use a memory card instead. When you come to play a game with the HDD, make sure the burnt disc isn't in the tray when you turn it back on.

Basically, my xbox very rarely goes online, and I only play legit copies online.
