Rumor: Resistance 3 billboard ad spotted

A forum user at NeoGAF has apparently spotted a billboard advertisement for Resistance 3. According to goldsoundz, the pictures were taken in Shreveport, Louisiana, a location where plenty of motion picture studios choose to film their movies. The billboard may be made specifically for Battle: Los Angeles, an upcoming movie from Sony’s Columbia Pictures.

The unannounced title will be the fourth game in the Resistance series, following Resistance: Fall of Man and Resistance 2 on the Playstation 3 in addition to Resistance: Retribution on the PSP. The developer, Insomniac Games, just finished up developing Ratchet and Clank Future: A Crack in Time. Presumably, Resistance 3 will be released on the Playstation 3 in the fall of 2010. No, it would be the third in 4 years, because Im going to go out on a limb here and say that even if this is real we wouldnt see it till next winter at the earliest. Resistance fall of man came out in Nov 06, Resistance 2 came out in Nov of 08. What seems the new life cycles of games anymore is a 2 year gap on sequels.

I just assumed it would be released early in 2010, if they are starting to make some publicity, making it closer to 3 years and a few months, than 4 years.

Hopefully this time around they can design a character I can relate to.

For me, Nathan went from muted hero of Resistance 1, to broken down, corrupted, and soulless in #2. I had no feelings for the bastard mid-point of the second entry, made it hard to finish the game. (still have yet to, been on the final stage for quite awhile)

I guess I just preferred the narrative of Rachel to drive the story forward in the first title that connected the levels together in a logical manner.

Wish I could fix my PSP though to play Retribution, as that's supposed to compliment both PS3 entries.

At any rate, I wouldn't mind a 3rd entry, but it makes me wonder how much further Insomniac can even push the PS3. Resistance 1 was something to behold as far as a launch title was concerned (hell, 40 players online matches for a console game was unheard of, and still is for the most part), and #2 pushed it in terms of sheer number of soldiers/chimera onscreen at the cost of visual clarity.
(I personally felt the first game was more aesthetically pleasing and natural)

I don't know what else they can milk out of the system at this point, but I guess I'll have to play the new Ratchet & Clank game to see since it was built off of an upgraded version of Resistance 2's engine.

I live in Shreveport, Billboards are up but there part of a movie set they are shooting here "The Battle for Los Angeles" So I don't know if there product placement or just part of the movie.

Insomniac always releases their games around November, and they only work on one big game a year. So this might be out next year.

New York setting is a cool idea.

All this game needs is a new story, an even more expanded co-op mode, and more multiplayer competitive matches INCLUDING DLC that actually can be played with. I almost think this is 100% real soley based on the fact that R2 competitive hasnt really been touched by insomniac in a while.

Loved the Co-op in the second, best of the two online options. Hope the next has more of a focus on Co-op just because I know they can do well.

Seems a bit backwards to go from ships as transportation to trains (as much as an FPS section on a train would be kickass for shooting on), but I'm guessing this is taking place a fair bit after R2 if the Chimerans have basically 'won' the war.

I hope the co-op is kept in. Resistance 2 was so damn fun to play online and the game play offline was solid enough for a steady play through. Can't wait since Resistance 1 hooked me on buying a PS3.

If they keep the co-op, I hope they would actually allow you to select which version of the maps you enter since there's about 8-10 variations of each one. Preferably a boost to the visuals since honestly, it was ugly looking, but my guess was a lot of that was due to them wanting to keep split-screen play as an option while maintaining a smooth framerate.

I'm kinda fixated on the train idea currently, it'd make for some cool objective-based multiplayer setups. Overall though, I hope there's a story I'll care for this time around. R1 was only interesting because of whatshername narrator, and R2 I couldn't just feel anything for Nathan Hale. R3 will have to be a clean slate given the events of R2's war, so I'm hoping for something fresh.

The reason you couldnt empathize with Hale was because he was slowly losing his humanity.

exactly in R2 he was less human and more of a monster. If u havent seen it go watch project abraham they show a bunch of shit they had to go through.
