What did NCsoft do their game client? I didn't crash a single time during the CBs/OB and now I crash at least 2 times every hour, if not more.

If mem usage> 2gb = game crash and no it doesnt matter if you have 8gb of ram or not.
Still doesn't change the fact my game never crashed during CBs, they obviously changed something and it's causing massive memory loss somewhere. I can't honestly be the only getting these crashes. :/
And I'm like 99% sure it's not using 2gb of RAM.
yep. i never had any problem until patch 1.5.0.8. after countless try & error (included a re-install of the OS), i now can play fine under the following condition:
- only using 3gb instead of 4gb (it's not the ram nor the bank, believe me i tested all options) will stop my all ~20min occuring crashes outside of crowded areas. it crashed even waiting in the server queue.
- use shift + f12 in crowded areas (like eltnen fortress aka crash city).
don't ask me why because i can't tell you more than most people know atm: it's a problem with the client's memory allocating. i've spent a whole weekend going from 64 bit OS to 32 bit and back, testing different drivers/game settings, checked the hardware etc. i've never had any problem in c-aion nor in cb/ob/until patch 1.5.0.8. the method above at least lets me play.
I'll take your word for it, but what does shift+F12 do? Never heard of using that before XD
It helps with lag, but it doesn't solve the crashing issue. Probably got kicked 7 or so times tonight while working on a fort. Kinda miffed I didn't get more kills, though. Only 68.![]()
should've mention, that i can't speak for fortress sieges and such as i'm only 24 atm. however, i haven't crashed once in eltnen (frequent) nor in sanctum (every once in while) yet by using shift + f12
shift f12 is the most ridiculous solution.
might as well replace the models with giant white blocks.
I really only crash in Pande or Morheim(sp?.) I end up resolving it by dropping the textures to medium from high, then back to high outside those crowded areas. Stupid, and I hate doing it each time and wish it would be fixed.
Running a 5870 Radeon and 6gb tri channel, I think it safe to assume its the client and not my PC fault.![]()
there is a big AS thread about this which actually contains some decent info (out of the gazillion others), where the OP also figured that he doesn't crash as long as he set texture quality to low. it looks like someone didn't properly code the texture load handling, thus aion crashes once it reaches 2gb+.
i use shift f12 because i rather not see other people at all than asking myself all the time for what i bought a 4890 vapor-x.
I'll have to try taking ram out (I bought the shit for Aion tho... /rage). Last night I couldn't run more than about 10 mins at a fort siege without crashing. I did notice that shift-f12 let me play longer but couldn't stop the crash in the end. Most of the crashes aion.bin was still running in task manager but only had about 1.4gb to it, a couple times I saw 1.7. I've also noticed I need to use s-f12 when I go to eltnen fort recently...
Next fort ill try to do low textures, but I have nearly a top of the line comp and crash during for sieges all the time. It only happens in abyss because Aion doesn't do a memory dump at all, and the abyss is one giant zone and loads everything into ram upon zone in. F12 doesnt solve much because it still loads everything and spell animations, ect... it's just a poor fix for low-end machines
Ah so that's why my memory went extra wonky in Reshanta.
