Xbox 360: Couple questions about MS points

If you DL games thru xbox live what happens when your xbox breaks and you get a new one;
Do they let you open it and keep the old HD?
Do they let you reDL the games? (it's on your acc right?)

I plan to DL three games, Braid, Draft combine, and Castle Crashers. I'll still be able to get one more so any thoughts on a 4th? Oh and any idea what's the cheapest way to get points?



Unrelated but while I'm here, anyone know how to back-up the xbox discs on the HD? Does it help with load time significantly?

If your xbox breaks, just take the HD out of the top of it, there should be a little button on it and it just pops right out.
You can redownload anything you already purchased, downloads are connect to your Live account.

I'm not entirely sure on what you mean by 'the cheapest way to get points'. I don't think I've seen a place where you can get them cheaper. Remember that Gamerpoints are not the same thing as Microsoft points and can not be redeemed as Microsoft points. For some reason a lot of people think that they are the same or connected somehow. If you want to get a lot of gamerpoints for no reason I guess you could just rent a bunch of games.

Honestly I've never installed a game to my HD so I wouldn't know exactly. I know you can do it though.

If you get a new Xbox and want to use DLC from your old hard drive you have to be on Xbox Live to play them, or you can like authorize the new xbox, but then you have to redl everything (free, but time consuming). if you reauthorize, then you can play dlc offline

Like some times the Xbox Live subscription has deals; 12+1, cheaper prices on Amazon, other promotions etc. So I figure the MS points might have them also. I've never purchased em, so was just checking if there was something I didn't know about. I bought the xbox live w/o checking first, because assumed there wouldn't be any deals only to find out there's quite a few ._.a

Any other thoughts on another game? I figure I'd get the 4k card, since it works out well enough for 3 games and the NBA DC. Not sure if that's the best way to go or no... Was gonna get something smaller, but I got a $50 gc from gamestop, and wouldn't know what else to get there anyways. Since other places usually have better deals on actual games.

When I got my 360 repaired (RROD) they were supposed to fix the licensing so that I didn't have to use the tool, but it didn't work so...
Once a year you can transfer your offline license to a new xbox, then you go to your...download history I think, and redownload your licensed games. That will let you play them offline or as another local account.

wrong. If the cards are the kind that come in clamshell packaging, they ARE NOT activated at the cashier, you can just cut the package open and steal them. I have a friend who, for my birthday, gave me far more MS point cards then he could have been buying, and he told me he'd been stealing them as described above.

Picked up 3 of the 1600 point cards for 12.99 each from MicroCenter. That's $7 bucks less than per normal priced card ;x Paid $11 less for 800 more points, than a normal priced 4000 point card. :D

And I didn't even have to pay for gas, because a friend works by one.
