Any way to purchase stuff on PS Store without funding the wallet?

The title pretty much says it all, I can't find a way around the wallet thingy. I just want to charge it directly to the card.

Just charge it directly to your card... It gives you the option to enter your credit card #.

    Amazon.com: PlayStation Network: Video Games

not everything is on there, but the wallet will continuously refill to $5 after each purchase if all the funds are used up.

I wanted to buy an episode of The Office, so that won't fly on Amazon. Seems like PSN wants $5 no matter what, so it wins.

Do you have a credit card on your account? Add one(from account management?), and simply "check out" .

    EDIT: Here it is.

    PlayStation®Network > Using the wallet
    Using the wallet

To use this feature, you may be required to update the system software.

Use the wallet to purchase products that are for sale in (PlayStation®Store). One wallet is created for each PlayStation®Network master account. You must add funds to the wallet before making purchases.
    Adding funds

You can add funds to the wallet using options such as a credit card, PlayStation®Network Card or Edy*. Funding methods, currency and limits to wallet funding level vary depending on the country or region of residence. For details, contact the technical support line for your region.

    * Edy is only available in Japan.

    1.

Select (Account Management) under (PlayStation®Network) in the home menu.

    2.

    Select (Transaction Management).

    3.

    Select [Add Funds].
Follow the on-screen instructions to complete the operation.
    Setting to automatically add funds

For active subscriptions associated with your account, you can have funds automatically added from your card to the wallet if there are insufficient funds to pay for subscription renewals. This feature may not be available in your country or region. For details, contact the technical support line for your region.

    1.

Select (Account Management) under (PlayStation®Network) in the home menu.

    2.

    Select (Transaction Management).

    3.

    Select [Automatic Funding].
    Hints

    * Subscriptions are services that can be used for a predetermined period such as 30 or 60 days. When the subscription expires, an extension for another subscription period is automatically purchased.
    * Either the insufficient amount for the subscription service or the minimum charge amount for the wallet, whichever is greater, will be added to the account.

Wallet usage by sub account holders

A sub account holder cannot create a wallet but can use the wallet for the associated master account to pay for products and services. A master account holder can set monthly spending limits for associated sub accounts. To set the spending limits, select (Sub Account Management) under (PlayStation®Network) > (Account Management).
Once you enable "Automatic Funding" you'll sorta bypass the wallet thingy. With 0.00 balance, if you buy a 5.99 item the system will automatically charge/buy 5.99 from your credit card to your wallet.

    PS3™ | Using the wallet

And here is how it looks like after you purchase an item. You receive two emails.

    --------------------------------------------------------------------------
    Funds added to wallet $19.99
    Balance* $19.99
    --------------------------------------------------------------------------

    And 1 second after

    --------------------------------------------------------------------------

    Total $19.99

$0.00 remains in your wallet, as of the date and time of this transaction.
    --------------------------------------------------------------------------

the problem is that what he wants is an episode that usually runs at 1.99(2.99?) so the wallet will add $5 and he will have some change that he might never use.

They want to make money off each transaction, simple as. They get charged for letting you use your visa & mastercard at checkout. Same reason my old commuter college made it so you had to spend at least $2 before you could use a card.

(I was one of the bastards who'd run in on test day and use a debit card to buy a 24 cent scantron, lawl)

while we're on the subject, does anyone know an easy way to get a game from the EU/Hong Kong PSN? I want to download/play Dark Mist, but I'm 99% sure you can't use a US credit card and HK points cards are really really expensive on ebay/playasia
