    Worrisome Wamouras.

So it feels weird to post this in Advanced but I guess there's not any other place to post it now?

Anyway, I'm soloing on BLM in Halvung on Wamoura Princes. I pull with a tIV nuke, grav, tIV nuke, tIV nuke, walk a little further, tIV nuke and it depops before the fourth nuke can land.

    This happened 5 times today.

I never go beyond 20 distance away from the mob and I'm casting spells back to back with no delay.

Anyone have any clue what's going on?

    inb4 whoosh.

It has been in the game since the MPK patch. If a monster doesn't land a hit on you, it'll despawn after a bit. It seems there are points where it deagros and sits there (you'll notice it turn around often). You have to reclaim or it'll despawn.

I used to use about the same pattern as you, and they won't despawn if you hit them with Drain and then a T3 instead of the final T4 because you'll be faster. It'll save you MP, too.

the final tIV isn't a killshot unfortunately. I have to sleep and rest MP to kill :<

This used to happen for me on puddings from time to time. Are you keeping an eye on whether it's "claimed" or not? With my case, if they happened to go unclaimed, I had about a 3 second window to hit them with a Stun, etc. and get them back to red before they despawned.

Aye, this, also pay attention to them physically, if they ever stop moving and you're not already casting, toss a random spell, I like drain myself, as I never end up using it because it ends up being a waste of mp (same nuke ends up being a kill shot regardless of drain usage = technically a waste) on puddings so it's usually not on cooldown when it occurs

This happens when you run up the ramp, they lose line of sight and deaggro for some reason. Happens at puddings all the time. Just watch when you go up.

I'm pretty sure if they lose line of sight or go inactive for a predetermined amount of time without making physical contact recently they despawn. Which is why its mostly dominant with blm's kiting

also it may have to do with rates of speed, wamouras are naturally slower and if you run for say 5 seconds and can get out of there possible range to catch up they just depop, can be adapted to puddings by considering there need to cast a spell within rate of speed

The same thing happens at the Pudding camp.

It is annoying, as you can never deaggro something when you want to.

    Things that make it happen:
    * Keeping a good distance (Casting at max distance, never letting them get closer than 5)
    * Changes in terrain (going up the 'hill' towards the zone @ puddings is the worse)
    * Large gaps between actions (try to use drain/aspir while waiting on T4 recast)

It used to happen to me a lot when I started at the pudding camp on BLM. Having spend years soloing on RDM and learning how to keep a good distance and never get hit, I naturally took the same approach to BLM EXP.

It doesn't work. Being good at kiting will make them de-pop a lot. You need to keep them interested, by not always casting @20, but cast @ 17-18 some times so they end up very close to melee range and casting on them regularly.

Think about your cast order, for puddings I use, Thunder IV, Grav, Blizz IV, Aspir (and maybe drain depending on time), Thunder IV.

If I sit and wait for the Thunder IV cast timer (which is the point when I start to run up the 'hill' @ puddings) then they will often de-pop, so I now hit them with aspir (which I used to use after gravity) and some time drain if they are taking their time to get to me.

Ironically a riskier kiting style is a more rewarding way to EXP, and should be pretty safe if you have Stoneskin up.

    Protip:

This happens to all mobs that doesn't track by scent, so if you have +movement (and the mob doesn't), you can depop any aggro you don't want.

I think the earth weather makes them despawn more often but I don't have massive amounts of data to back it up, just personal experience.

As I understand it, it is not distance that causes deaggroing, but time. If the mob you are fighting can not take an action on you within 30 seconds no matter how close or far, it will deaggro if that is part of it's behavior.

I have found this to be more reliable of an indicator of deaggro than distance, but I don't know if it is absolute fact. I have not done rigorous testing on this though.

I have been noticing this to, when I tried to solo Aquarius for the axe he drops I lost aggro countless times as a COR/BLM doing the kite/QD methood.

Which is odd since when I soloed the ZNM Rat I hardly lost aggro unless I actually tried to, for the WHM AF3 NM I never lost aggro, however when I fight Aquarius I found most of the time I'm running back to cast Bio II on him.

The ZNM Rat has specific AI for movement so that may cause issues outside of the norm.

I've heard it can happen, but I've never actually seen the ZNM rat deagro as long as the popper is still alive. Then again, I've accidentally deagroed Ix'Drk and his Qns before before so anything can happen.

Anyway, I agree with ringthree that it's likely time rather than distance. For a while I thought it was time and relative distance, so if a certain amount of time went by without them getting any closer to you then they'd give up. Also, as long as it hasn't hit you I think you can depop about everything this way, tracking by scent or not.

I lost aggro on it on a few rare occasions, once when I ran too far when it went into "Bomberman mode" (When I found it, it was back to 100%, but hey... live and learn from your first time) and about 2 times randomly throughout the fight.

This is going to sound really stupid, but has anyone ever checked to see if they depop if they have a DoT on them? I appreciate the lulz of DoTing something you're soloing on BLM, but if you're doing it right on puddings you'll never need to sleep them anyway.

Don't have enough MP to do that. Gotta sleep em and rest MP for the final nuke. Wamouras anyway. I'm not too good at puddings.
